Roy Jones Jr. – Ambassador of AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships
The legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr. was appointed the Ambassador of the 2021 AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships, which takes place from October 26 to November 6 in Belgrade, Serbia.
On Thursday he attended the official meeting with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, AIBA President Umar Kremlev and other members of the Local Organising Committee.
Roy Jones Jr. expressed gratitude for such an honour and credibility.
‘Thank you for the invitation to Serbia and for chance to be a part of such a big sports event as AIBA World Championships. Boxing unites people, but the extremely important part is that our sport needs to be honest and transparent so each young boxer can be sure in fair judging and fair results,’ Roy Jones Jr said.
In February 2021, famous Serbian actor Miloš Biković became the Ambassador of the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships.
‘This year Serbia will host the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships, this is an incredibly important event for our country and the whole world. Today boxing needs to be popularized, and I am happy to support the idea of combining culture and boxing because it is not only a sport discipline, boxing is really a special culture,’ Biković added.
‘We are planning a large-scale marketing campaign, attracting world boxing stars, celebrities all around the world to make the event massive and bring our sport to a new level,’ Mr. Kremlev claimed.
