Sam Eggington: I Like The Danger That He Brings Into The Ring
Sam Eggington vs. Carlos Molina
Britain`s Sam Eggington and the Mexican Carlos Molina fight on May 22 at the Skydome in Coventry, United Kingdom, where the silver middleweight title of the World Boxing Council will be at stake.
Eggington (29-7, 18 KO), 27, an important part of the British super welterweight scene, fought six times in 2019 and is 5-1 since a stoppage loss to Liam Smith.
“There is nothing like a tough Mexican fighter to really get the blood and adrenaline pumping and I can’t wait for fight time. Molina is very experienced. He is a former world champion, he has fought many quality fighters and he is still hungry and ambitious for another world title fight.
“ I like the danger that he brings into the ring, that it will bring out the savagery within me,“ commented Sam.
Molina (37-11-2, 12 KOs) is remembered for his 2011 draw with Erislandy Lara and his unfair loss by DQ to James Kirkland the following year. Carlos, 37, won his last eight bouts and has been a promoter reviving boxing during the pandemic.
Molina commented: “My main goal when I started my promotional business was to make my own way to a world title. This is a great test for me and I am looking forward to becoming the new WBC Silver Champion. It has come at a perfect time for me, having the momentum of eight straight wins and also continuing to build King Carlos Promotions by being associated as a promoter for this card.”
