Saul “Canelo” Álvarez is WBC Boxer of the Month
The World Boxing Council has released the rankings for January 2021 and selected Mexican Saul “Canelo” Álvarez as the fighter of the month.
The appointment came due to his excellent performance in winning the vacant super middleweight championship by defeating previously unbeaten Callum Smith.
With this victory, “Canelo” managed to win his third WBC belt, (super welterweight, middle and super middle).
Saul started his career and grew through the WBC platform and his affiliated championships.
He was a youth world champion of the WBC, NABF and silver champion of the WBC. Championships that helped him to reach the world stage with tempered, paced and graduated maturity.
The WBC gave an honorable mention to WBC Cruiserweight Champion Ilunga Makabu, who defended his championship by knocking out Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola.
“Canelo” es el boxeador del mes para el WBC
El Consejo Mundial de Boxeo dio a conocer las clasificaciones de enero 2021 y seleccionó al mexicano Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez como el peleador del mes.
El nombramiento se dio debido a su excelente desempeño al conquistar el campeonato vacante supermedio del organismo al derrotar al previamente invicto, Callum Smith. Con este triunfo, “Canelo” logró conquistar su tercer cinturón del WBC, (superwelter, medio y supermedio).
Saúl comenzó su carrera y creció a través de la plataforma WBC y sus campeonatos afiliados. Fue campeón mundial juvenil del WBC, NABF y campeón de plata del WBC le sirvió de preparación para llegar con madurez al escenario mundial.
El WBC le brindó una mención de honor al Campeón crucero WBC Ilunga Makabu, quien defendió su campeonato al noquear al nigeriano Olanrewaju Durodola.
