Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Welterweight Champion Jimmy “Quiet Storm” Williams was 16-1-1 when he entered a fight with fellow contender Marc DeLuca (22-1) in March of 2019.

Williams, from New Haven in Connecticut, had won a WBC regional title at Welterweight two years earlier, and retained it twice, and now, challenging DeLuca for his NABA title, he was looking to move up the ranks at Super Welterweight.

But DeLuca won a clear decision at the House of Blues in Boston, and the defeat was the start of a bad streak which put Williams career in limbo.

Including the DeLuca loss, he went 0-4-1 between March 2019 and December 2020, and losing a decision to journeyman Esteban Villalba (11-22-3) would have made most fighters lose hope of a return to top level.

But not Jimmy Williams. He got back to winning ways with an easy first round stoppage of one Clifford McPherson in April of 2021, which put him in line for a crossroads bout two months later against former WBA World Champion Yuri Foreman (35-3).

Williams was a clear underdog against the accomplished and respected Foreman, but he believed in himself and went on to win by majority decision in Atlanta, to pick up the UBO and American Boxing Federation (ABF) titles.

Now 18-5-2 (6), Williams is scheduled to fight former IBA World Champion Greg Vendetti (22-4-1) at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford on September 24 for another WBC regional belt.

This time he is the A-side, headlining a card promoted by his promoter, CES Boxing, and fighting in his home-state. Another win here, and who is to say he cant be fighting for a world championship next?

As the saying goes, its not about how many times you fall, but about how many times you get up. Jimmy Williams has gotten back up, and he is probably better than ever.
