Summer Lynn vs. Brenda Gonzales
River Center, Davenport, Iowa, USA 14/8/21
(Vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ World Welterweight Title)
One of the most promising female Welterweights on the scene, Chicago´s Summer Lynn, graduated to the big leagues on Saturday, August 14, when she won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ World Welterweight title.
In the main event of a show at the River Center in Davenport, Iowa, Lynn lived up the high expectations put on her, as she impressively defeated Brenda “Boom Boom” Gonzales by unanimous decision.
After a competitive fight where Lynn was the aggressor and landed the better shots in most of the ten rounds, judges Michael Walsh and Bob LaFratte both scored it 98-92, while judge Patrick Morley had it slightly closer at 97-93.
20-year-old Lynn, who is trained and managed by the accomplished Rick Ramos, improved her unblemished professional record to 6-0 (3).
The former amateur stand-out is a stablemate of WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO World Champion Jessica McCaskill, who also worked her corner in Davenport.
Tough and game, Brenda Gonzales, from Moriarty in New Mexico, came prepared and determined to upset the young favourite, but sees her record drop to 4-3 (1).
Promoters of the fight were Alien Boi Boxing and Calkins Sports Productions, in association with Rick Ramos Boxing.
