ANTHONY DE BRUIN vs. EMMANUEL NOI MENSAH

Conrad Hotel in Dubai, U.A.E.

Undefeated Dutchman Anthony de Bruin captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Lightweight title on Friday afternoon, May 28, at the Conrad Hotel in Dubai, U.A.E.

Based in Dubai, 27-year-old de Bruijn scored a unanimous decision over the very game Emmanuel Noi Mensah from Ghana in what was a well-matched and entertaining encounter.

The fight was high-paced from the first bell, and most rounds were closely contested. De Bruijn usually started best, while Noi Mensah came on strong in the final minute.

De Bruijn was clearly the more active of the two, but Noi Mensah was very slippery and hard to catch clean. In spots, the Ghanaian was dangerous with counters, especially when forced against the ropes.

Scores were 79-73-79-73 and 80-72, but did not do the closeness of the fight, and effort from Noi Mensah, justice.

Following what was his third fight so far in 2021, de Bruijn is now 9-0-1 (6). Much better than his record suggests, Mensah travels back to Accra at 8-7 (6).

The fight was promoted by Core Sports in association with Round 10 Boxing and MTK Global.
