Axel Aragon Vega and Armando Torres both cleared the scales for their World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecentro minimumweight title bout, which will be this Friday night in Mexico City.

Aragon Vega weighed in at 107.6 pounds, while Torres needed two attempts at the scales to meet the division’s 108. Once the last step was completed, both are ready to dispute the regional belt of the pioneer organization.

Aragon Vega is a young opponent, only 21 years old, but he has an important experience as it is a world championship fight. In spite of the loss, the Mexican showed grit in that fight and lost due to a hand injury that forced him to retire.

Torres is a veteran of a thousand battles and will try to use his experience to prevail. Despite losing his most recent bout, he won all five of his previous fights and is highly motivated for this opportunity.

Aragon Vega has 14 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 8 knockouts. Torres has 26 wins, 19 losses and 19 knockouts.

Axel Aragon Vega and Armando Torres will have a generational battle this Friday for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecentro title in the light flyweight division. Mexico City’s BlackBerry Auditorium will be the venue for the 118-pound bantamweight showdown, organized by All Star Boxing.

Aragon last fought Hiroto Kyoguchi for the world title. The Mexican was having a very interesting fight until an injury to his right hand forced him out of the fight in the fifth round.

The “Mini”, who is only 21 years old, will return in a good regional title fight and knows he must face a dangerous veteran like Torres.

With much more experience, Torres is in good shape. He has won five of his last six fights and has fought quality opponents recently such as Ganigan Lopez and Jonathan Gonzalez.

Both fighters will step on the scales on Thursday and once they make the 118-pound, they will be ready for the bout. Aragon Vega has 14 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 8 knockouts, while Torres has a record of 26 wins, 19 losses and 19 knockouts.

Japan’s Hiroto Kyoguchi and Mexico’s Axel Aragon Vega went face to face in a press conference prior to their fight on Saturday in Dallas, Texas, when the Japanese will make the third defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Flyweight Super Championship.

Both offered their impressions before the fight at the American Airlines Center, a special one for both of them.

Kyoguchi has just signed a promotional contract with Matchroom Boxing and will be making his first fight in the United States, which marks the beginning of a new stage, as he said.

“I know it will be a big fight, but it’s not my ultimate goal. I’m going against a shorter fighter, but I have a strategy and I’ll be able to deal with him,” Kyoguchi assured at the press conference.

For his part, Aragon Vega knows he has a great occasion in front of him and that fighting for the WBA world title is the most important challenge in his career so far.

“It’s a great opportunity. I’m very motivated to go forward and become champion. We know how to work the distance well,” said the Mexican to the press.

After the press conference, the only thing left is the weigh-in, which will take place tomorrow and in which they will have to mark the 108 pounds of the division. Kyoguchi has a record of 14 wins, no losses, and 9 KOs, while Aragon Vega has 14 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, and 8 KOs.

The bout is scheduled to take place in the same card in which Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada will fight for the WBA 115 lbs. belt in the main event.

Hiroto Kyoguchi will be one of the attractions of this Saturday’s event at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The Japanese fighter will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Flyweight Super Championship against Mexican Axel Aragon Vega in what will be his first appearance in the United States.

The fight will take place in the undercard of the event organized by Matchroom, which will have Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada fighting for the WBA Super Flyweight belt, in addition to the unification bout between Jessica McCaskill and Cecilia Braekhus for all the welterweight titles.

Last week it was reported that Kyoguchi was leaving Japan to land in America to finalize details for his fight. The 27-year-old Japanese will be making his first fight after a year and a half of inactivity due to the pandemic, but he is motivated to surprise the public on this side of the world.

He will fight a young fighter like the Mexican, who has been involved in several wars at only 20 years of age and is the Fedecentro champion of the pioneer organization. The Mexico City native has won four of his last five fights and wants to ruin the WBA champion’s party.

This week the different promotional activities prior to the fight will take place, including the press conference and the weigh-in ceremony on Friday, in which both will have to mark the 108 pounds of the division.

World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Flyweight Super Champion, Japan’s Hiroto Kyoguchi, has travelled from Japan to Dallas, Texas, where he will defend his black and gold belt against Mexico’s Axel Aragon Vega on March 13th, in the co-main fight of the Roman Gonzalez vs Juan Francisco Estrada bout.

The undefeated fighter and native of Izumi, Osaka, posted several pictures on his Twitter account with his team at the airport. It will be a special fight because of the significance of the event, plus it will be his first fight in the U.S. and the first under the promotion of Matchroom, with whom he signed a contract a few months ago.

“I’m happy to fight in the United States under this pandemic situation. I hope I can perform well there,” said the Japanese fighter to local media, according to a press release written by journalist Joe Koizumi.

Kyoguchi will have a few days to adapt to Dallas’ time and weather, before stepping into the ring of the American Airlines Center to make the third defense of his WBA belt.

The Japanese comes in with a perfect record in 14 appearances, in which he has won 9 by KO, while his opponent, Aragon Vega, has a record of 14 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, and 8 KOs.

Mexican Axel Aragón Vega will face a very complicated challenge on March 13 when he meets Japanese Hiroto Kyoguchi, the World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Flyweight Super Champion, at the American Airlines Center, in Dallas, Texas.

It will be a great opportunity for Aragón Vega, who will be in the co-feature of the Román González vs. Juan Francisco Estrada WBA and WBC title unification bout, organized by Matchroom Boxing.

Aragón has been working hard and aims to surprise everyone, as he said in an interview with Podio Media MX.

“We already have a month and a half here in Ensenada, we moved from Los Angeles and we are working hard. I’m mentally focused on winning, always with my head high. I will enter the ring and bring all Mexico with me to win and bring the victory to Ensenada, God willing”, said the 20-year-old fighter.

One of the keys for the Mexican’s team has been to study Kyoguchi through videos, a strategy that the challenger claims allowed him to know the champion’s boxing style and have a formula to beat him.

“We do know him. We’ve seen him on YouTube, we’ve been analysing him; he’s a fighter who is tough, who goes to the front, but we are also tough and we’re going to give him a fight,” he said.
