Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai – Postponed

Due to the unfortunate passing of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of The United Arab Emirates, this Saturday’s showdown of former world champions Tevin Farmer and Mickey Bey at The Coca-Cola Arena Dubai has been postponed.

Farmer and Bey were poised to headline a great night of boxing where the former champs were primed and ready to put on championship level performances.

“On Behalf of the Organizers Bigger than Life Sports, Tevin Farmer and Mickey Bey of Bey Brothers Promotions, We want to give our condolences to all of the people of Dubai (UAE) on the passing of their great leader. I want to also acknowledge condolences to everyone working on the event. I want to thank everyone at the Coca-Cola Arena Dubai and the UAE Sports Council. We were originally supposed to have the show in Ghana, but because of changing Covid restrictions, we moved the fight to Dubai (UAE).

The people of Dubai have been terrific to work with, and it is heartbreaking for the people of this country to mourn the loss of their leader. This delay will only build this great event even more, and Tevin and Mickey will continue to train as we reschedule. Like we have been saying since we announced the fight, it will be a great event,” said E.Jay Matthews of Bigger Than Life Sports.

Mickey Bey vs. Tevin Farmer

Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai – 21 May 2022

The highly anticipated showdown between former world champions, Mickey Bey (23-3-1, 11 KOs) and Tevin Farmer (30-5-1, 6 KOs), will now take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. The 10-round lightweight bout will still happen on May 21, 2022, and air live on PPV available at FarmervsBeyPPV.com.

“Due to COVID restrictions, we had to move our fight from Ghana Africa to Dubai,” said Bey. “We still have a fantastic card in place with a lot of United States fighters that have just been added. Tevin and I plan to put on a great show and the winner is right back in the mix to fight for a world title.

Bey feels the venue change will be more beneficial to the event as Dubai is becoming a hotbed for big boxing events.

“Dubai has been having a lot of big boxing events lately,” continued Bey, who’s last fight was against George Kambosos, in which he lost a very close split decision. “Floyd Mayweather is fighting in Dubai the weekend before my fight, which gives you an indication on how big boxing is going to be in that region.”

Mickey Bey vs. Tevin Farmer

Accra Sports Center in Ghana, Africa – 21 May 2022

It’s official, former world champions Mickey Bey (23-3-1, 11 KOs) and Tevin Farmer (30-5-1, 6 KOs) will square off in a historic fight on May 21, 2022, from the Accra Sports Center in Ghana, Africa. Bey vs. Farmer, at 10-round lightweight bout, will air live on PPV available at FarmervsBeyPPV.com.

“I am excited this bout came together, it was a lot of hard work from both Tevin and myself, and we’re bringing world-class boxing to Africa” said Bey, who is making his return to the ring after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus. “This will be a global event that features elite fighters battling in a huge sporting venue that promises to provide an amazing atmosphere. Tevin is one of the best fighters I could face, and when other fights fell out for him, I jumped at the chance to fight him.

“This is big fight for both of us at this stage in our careers and I know what I need to do to make the most of this opportunity,” said Farmer. “I want to show the world the type of warrior I still am and that I have a lot of fight left in me. This is going to be a tough fight, but I will come out on top.”

Bey’s last fight was against current undisputed lightweight world champion George Kambosos Jr. (20-0, 10 KOs), a split decision loss that took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City in December of 2019.  A lot of people felt Bey won that fight. Bey feels revived after the long layoff and promises to be in tremendous shape going into the Farmer fight.

“This is my chance to show everyone that I am one of the best fighters in the world,” continued Bey, who trains in Las Vegas. “I would love to get my rematch with Kambosos Jr. one day and putting on a great performance against Tevin Farmer lays the groundwork for me to be able to get that fight in the future. I’ve been training hard and I’ll be in the best shape of my career.”

Farmer, who in his last fight lost a close unanimous decision to Joseph Diaz (32-2-1, 15 KOs) back in January of 2020, believes he can make another run toward a world title with a victory against Bey.

“A win against Mickey Bey will put me right back in the mix to fight for a world title at lightweight,” Farmer concluded. “Everything is riding on this bout, and I can’t wait to get in the ring and do what I do best and that’s fight. We both got our backs against the wall so this makes for a great night of boxing, and I assure you, this will be a war.”
