Carlos Cañizales reappeared in good shape this Friday night and won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecaribe junior flyweight title by defeating German Valenzuela by unanimous decision of 98-92, 98-92 and 99-91, in Mexico City.

The Venezuelan was coming from a tough defeat last May against Esteban Bermudez. On that occasion he lost his world championship in the Mexican capital in a surprise knockout loss, so returning to that city meant a great revenge for him.

The 28-year-old fighter fought a fight as he has always been accustomed to, with a great volume of punches, walking the ring and throwing punches with force to an opponent who was taller and with more reach. Cañizales was not afraid to enter the exchange with the local and was always able to get the best part to go adding rounds and putting the fight in his pocket.

Valenzuela tried to take advantage of the distance but was unable to keep the Venezuelan away. He was hit hard but always showed courage and conviction so he stayed in the fight until the end.

Cañizales improved his record to 23 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 17 knockouts, while Valenzuela dropped  his to 16 wins, 3 losses and 12 knockouts.

Former world champion, Carlos Cañizales, will return to the ring this Friday to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecaribe belt against Germán Valenzuela at the Foro Centenario, in Coyoacán, Mexico City, Mexico.

Cañizales returns from one of his toughest performances when he lost his world championship against Esteban Bermudez last May in Mexico DF. The Venezuelan will return to the same place to straighten his path against a young and motivated Valenzuela.

Nicknamed “CCC”, the South American is a gritty fighter who knows how to fight in the exchange and has a good boxing style. The 28-year-old gladiator is looking to get back on track and this fight seems like an ideal situation to do so.

Valenzuela, just 22 years old, has a good record and home advantage. The Sonora native has won three of his last four fights, is an aggressive fighter and is hungry for an upset.

The bout is the featured fight of the event organized by Promociones Deportivas. Cañizales has a record of 22 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 17 knockouts, while Valenzuela has a record of 16 wins, 2 losses and 12 knockouts.

EstrellaTV’s Boxeo EstrellaTV returns on Friday, October 29, live at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT from Foro Centenario in Mexico City, with a 10-round, WBA Light Flyweight Fedecaribe Title fight between Carlos “CCC” Cañizales (22-1 & 17 KO’s) and German “El Chile” Valenzuela (16-2 & 12 KO’s). The undercard is led by an eight-round Lightweight Fight between Wilfredo “El Bravo Vega” Flores (9-0 & 5 KO’s) and Jonathan “Perita” Escobedo (7-2 & 2 KO’s).

The weigh-in for all fighters will take place on Thursday, October 28 at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT and will be live-streamed on Facebook @ProduccionesDeportivasBox.

Former World Boxing Association (WBA) world champion Carlos Cañizales has plans to return to the top and it starts in the same place where he lost his crown to Esteban Bermudez in May. Mexico City, will host his comeback against German Valenzuela for the WBA Fedecaribe belt.

The Teatro Centenario is the venue chosen by the promoter Producciones Deportivas for them to fight for the WBA Light Flyweight Fedecaribe belt.

For “CCC”, who is 28 years old, it was a painful and surprising knockout against Bermudez, which caused him to lose the title. However, Venezuelan’s motivation is still there and he knows he must take it easy to return to the rankings that once belonged to him. Winning the WBA regional belt would be a great start on his road back.

Valenzuela is a very dangerous opponent who will try to take advantage of being at home to win and to be on the boxing world map. He is just 22 years old and has fought between minimum and super flyweight, but he has settled the Light Flyweight division. He has won three of his last four fights and won by knockout in his most recent fight in August.

Cañizales has a record of 22 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 17 knockouts, while Valenzuela has 16 wins, 2 losses and 12 knockouts.
