Chavez Jr. Defeats Minda

Parque Revolucion, Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico

Chavez Jr. defeats Minda in Parque Revolution, Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Jeyson Minda was a late substitute for Nicolas Masseroni who reportedly could not make the contracted weight but Masseroni denied this claim from the Chavez Jr. team.

It is supposedly believed that he was just too much of a risk with all of his wins coming by way of knockout with just a single loss on his record. With this in mind, some say Chavez jr. is sticking to what could be regarded as ‘easy fights’ to cash in at the end of his career. Being fair, this is not new.

What is for sure is that the Nicolas Masseroni fight would on paper have been a very good but risky fight.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (56-5-1, 34 KO’s) W TKO 4 Jeyson Minda (14-3-1, 8 KO’s)

Fight Notes: Former WBC middleweight champion Chavez Jr. defeats Minda, attacking Minda’s body ferociously throughout the bout, dropping him in rounds two, three, and four. Minda’s corner finally waved the towel. The bout was made at light heavyweight. Minda was a late substitute.

Karim Arce (18-0-2, 8 KO’s) W PTS 10 Jesus Carlon (9-8-2, 3 KO’s)

Fight Notes: In a bout where no scores were announced, it was an entertaining fight from start to finish. Arce, the nephew of Mexican ring legend Jorge Arce, had his arm raised at the end of the bout. In a bout made at bantamweight, Arce kept his unbeaten record.
