A Fighter Locker trio was victorious this past weekend as the Ryan Roach-managed RayJay Bermudez, Daniel “The Dedication” Bailey and Robert Daniels Jr. each remained undefeated.

Bermudez, a super lightweight of Albany (NY), improved to 16-0 (11 KOs) last Friday night in Saint Augustine, Florida. The gifted 23-year-old won an 8-round unanimous, one-sided decision (80-71, 80-71, 79-72) over Gabriel Fernando Punalef Calfin (24-13-6), the former WBC Latino super lightweight champion from Argentina.

This past Saturday evening in Clarksville, Tennessee, Tampa featherweight Bailey moved to 10-0 (5 KOs) and light heavyweight Daniels, fighting out of Miami, won his 6th pro fight (5 KOs).

Bailey, who was a 4-time U.S. Army Champion as an amateur, pitched a shutout versus 55-fight veteran Raymond Chacon, winning all 6 rounds on the three judges’ scorecards. Bailey is the cousin of former world champion Randall Bailey.

The son of World Boxing Association Cruiserweight World Champion Robert “Preacherman” Daniels, Robert Jr. (6-0, 5 KOs) went the complete distance for the first time as a professional, taking a comfortable 6-round unanimous decision from Lorenzo Benavidez (3-3-1, 1 KO).

“This was a very successful weekend for my fighters,” Roach said. “They all looked sharp and got rounds in. Round experience is detrimental in building fighters because everybody wants a knockout. But rounds will get them ready for title fights. I’m very pleased with their performances.

Fighter Locker is scheduled to have five more fighters in action this Saturday night on “St. Valentine’s Day Massacre” card, presented by Vertex Promotions, at Moseley’s On The Charles in Dedham, Massachusetts: Texas super lightweight Miranda “El Alacra” Reyes (5-0-1, 3 KOs), Massachusetts featherweight Troy Anderson Jr. (3-0, 2 KOs), Irish light heavyweight Tommy “The Kid” O’Toole (2-0, 2 KOs), and the Davidson brothers from Kansas City (KS), super lightweight Marcus (2-0, 2 KOs), and pro-debuting lightweight Marcell.

Fighter Locker signs Kansas City lightweight prospect Marcell Davidson

Kansas City (KS) lightweight Marcell Davidson has joined his younger brother, undefeated welterweight Marcus Davidson (2-0, 2 KOs), in Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker stable having recently signed an exclusive managerial contract.

The 24-year-old Marcell was a decorated amateur boxer, capturing the Ringside World Championships twice, in addition to winning a gold medal at the 2019 National Golden Gloves Tournament. The 6’ 3” southpaw also won a silver medal at the 2017 National Golden Gloves, as well as a bronze the following year at the The Gloves. He also competed in the Olympic Trials.

Davidson got into boxing almost by accident. He and Marcus were together playing football at a local recreation center. The season ended and they were about to sign up for baseball, when the boxing coach asked them what sport they were going to get into next. He told them that boxers are stronger than football players. Marcus was immediately a convert, but Marcell really wasn’t into it. He just ran around instead of training and eventually he was banned because he broke a rule. Eventually, Marcell got his act together and he was allowed back in the gym a couple of years later. Both of the Davidson brothers have been there ever since.

As Marcell says, “My brother talks to everybody, and I follow.” So, when Marcus turned pro and signed a managerial contract with Roach, soon afterwards Marcell joined Fighter Locker.

“I was ready to turn pro and stayed in the gym training,” Marcell explained. “We were talking about which manager to sign with. We waited it out and stayed ready. My brother signed before me, and I listened to him talk about Ryan. My brother said Ryan was a great guy and the time was right for me to sign with him, too.

“Ryan is a great guy. I didn’t know anything about him – not even his family in boxing – but he’s a great guy who wants to help us and build our careers. I could definitely tell that he cares and takes care of his fighters.”

Davidson is slated to make his pro debut Feb. 12th on “St. Valentine’s Day Massacre,” presented by Vertex Promotions, at Moseley’s On The Charles in Dedham, Massachusetts.

“I’m very excited,” Marcell spoke about his upcoming pro debut. “You won’t see it, but I’m excited inside. I’ve been waiting for this moment. I’d like to stay very busy this year and maybe move up to 6-rounders by my fifth or sixth pro fight.”

“Marcell is a very skilled fighter,” Roach commented about his newest fighter. “One of his best attributes, which I think will be a huge advantage, is hos 6’ 1” height. We have been discussing him fighting at 135-140 pounds. He is a very athletic, young man with speed and power. He was a nationally ranked fighter who went to the Olympic Qualifiers, so this is a huge signing for my company. I’m excited to have the Davidson brothers under one stable, Fighter Locket. They are very close and do everything together. This will be fun!”

Five Dominican fighters managed by Ryan Roach closed 2021 in winning style last month for his company, Fighter Locker, going 5-for-5 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.

Lightweight Leonel de los Santos, cruiserweight Roki ‘Rocky” Berroa, featherweight Orlando Perez Zapata, super welterweight Juan Solano Santos, and Fighter Locker’s latest signee, lightweight Isaelin Florian Henriquez, were all in action this past November 28th.

Santos (5-0, 5 KOs), 2-time Dominican Olympian, kept his pro record perfect with a first-round stoppage of Julio Fiorentino (1-2). The 27-year-old Santos is 2-0 since returning from this year’s Olympics in Tokyo.

Berroa (2-0, 1 KO), 26, blasted out pro-debuting Leonel Montero Bido only 25-seconds into the opening round.

Southpaw Solano Santos took out pro-debuting Pedro Bonilla in the third round, while Zapata improved to 10-0 with 8 knockouts, stopping Alexander Guzman (0-3) late in round one.

Roach’s latest signee, Henriquez (8-1, 4 KOs), won his fist fight under the Fighter Locker banner, knocking out Annuel Perez (0-2) in the first round.

“I am very pleased with the results from Santo Domingo,” Roach said. “I was able to watch the fights via stream and they all looked great. They made quick work of their opponents, which was the game plan for their final fights of the year. These fighters have a bright future and I am looking forward to seeing them in action early next year, and hopefully having them fight here in Boston in the near future.

While it’s challenging enough during the pandemic to even get boxers into fights, during a recent 8-day stretch from September 18 through 25, members of the Fighter Locker stable won 12 of 13 fights.

The hot stretch started in Galveston, Texas back on Sept. 18th, when undefeated Colorado super middleweight Shawn “The Amazing” McCalman (9-0, 5 KOs) knocked out Jaime Barbosa (21-19) in the opening round, and stablemate Miranda Reyes (4-0, 2 KOs), of Houston, stopped super lightweight Erica Donnelly (0-1) in three rounds.

Last Thursday in the Dominican Republic, Fighter Locker was had four fighters in action at home: 2-time Olympian Leonel de los Santos (4-0, 4 KOs) knocked out Jaime Mariano (2-10-2) in the third round, cruiserweight Roki “Rocky” Berroa (1-0) won a 4-round unanimous decision over Orlando Peralto Beltran (0-1), super welterweight Orlando Perez Zapata (9-0, 6 KOs) stopped Anyelo Munoz (18-20) in three, super welterweight Juan Solano (1-0) won his pro debut with an opening-round KO of Dioni Candelaria (0-3).

The lone non-winning Fighter Locker boxer was New Haven (CT) super welterweight Jimmy “Quiet Storm” Williams (18-6-2, 6 KOs), the UBO International and ABF USA champion, who dropped a 10-round decision in last Friday’s main event in Hartford to Greg Vendetti (23-4-1, 12 KOs) for the vacant WBC USNBC Silver Super Welterweight Championship.

On the same night in Dedham, Massachusetts, ABF American West and NBA Continental Champion RayJay “The Destroyer” Bermudez (14-0, 11 KOs), fighting out of Albany, New York, registered a second-round technical knockout of Philip Adyaka (7-15) in the main event.

The following night at the same Dedham venue, Fighter Locker had five winners as Lawrence (MA) super lightweight Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (12-0, 10 KOs) shutout Danny Flores (15-25-1, 8 KOs) for a 8-round decision, Springfield, MA welterweight Eric “Gladiator” Goff (4-0, 3 KOs) posted a first-round knockout of Luciano Santos (0-2), pro-debuting Kansas City (KS) super lightweight Marcus Davidson (1-0, 1 KO) blasted out Austin Reed Ward (0-9) in round one, Dorchester (MA) featherweight Troy Anderson, Jr. drilled Chakem Brooks (0-1) in two rounds, and Irish cruiserweight Thomas O’Toole (1-0, 1 KO) turned in an promising pro debut by stopping Francisco Ariri Neto (1-15, 1 KO) in the first.

“Thirteen fights in 8 days is a great stretch for my company and coming away 12-1 is pretty close to perfect,” Fighter Locker president Ryan Roach said. “We lost a tough decision with Jimmy, but he showed some heart and won over some new fans. It was very challenging organizing it all beforehand, but we got it done and we were very successful. I am very fortunate to keep my fighters this active. I am only able to do so with the relationships I have developed with promoters. I made a promise to my fighters that I would keep them active, and I have delivered, They have also delivered by winning. What we have built at Fighter Locker has been special and I am looking forward to 2022. My goal to win a title in 2020-2021 was derailed by the pandemic. A lot of my fighters are in position to fight for a title soon, so I am very happy. We are not slowing down the next three months. We have a lot of fights already slotted and look to continue our streak. It is humbling how many fighters reach out daily to sign with my company. I think that is all due to the activity of my fighters.”

Four Dominican fighters managed by Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker will be in action this Thursday at Teo Cruz Boxing Coliseum in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Two-time Olympian Leonel de los Santos (3-0, 3 KOs), pro-debuting light heavyweight Roki Berroa, super welterweight Orlando Perez (8-0, 6 KOs), and pro-debuting super welterweight Juan Solano are all slated to be fighting.

Santos takes on lightweight Andres “El Indomable” Zapata (9-10, 6 KOs) in a 6-round bout.

In 4-round matches, southpaw Solano meets Dioni Cadelaria Martinez (0-2) and Berroa faces pro-debuting Orlando Peralta Beltran, while Perez goes for his ninth consecutive win without a loss against Angelo “El Olmpico” Munoz (18-19, 11 KOs).

“This is a big moment for these fighters all fighting in their home city for the first time as professionals,” Roach said. “Leonel, Juan and Roki fought all over the world together, but this is their first time at home, so this is special to them. I will be traveling down to be with them and i am really looking forward to watching these guys display their talent. This is my first time to watch live professional boxing in the Dominican Republic and I’m excited to team up with Shaun Boxing for the event.”

Undefeated junior welterweight prospect Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (11-0, 9 KOs) has found a new home having signed a managerial contract with Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker.

The 26-year-old Sosa, fighting out of Lawrence (MA), was a hot commodity after defeating previously undefeated Khiry Todd (7-0) in 2018 by way of a 6-round majority decision, which led to Sosa signing a promotional contract with DiBella Entertainment. Sosa was unhappy fighting about only four times against journeymen through mid-2019, when the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown boxing.

“I had issues with opponents who kept falling out,” Sosa explained. “Foxwoods is only 2-hours from Lawrence, and I was losing credibility with my fans because fights kept falling out. I wanted to step up to showcase my skills, but I wasn’t getting good fights, and then COVID hit. I called (Lou) DiBella and he gave me my release.

“That fight (vs. Khiary) is the biggest for me so far. People kept asking me why an undefeated fighter (6-0) would fight another undefeated prospect (Todd was 7-0). He wanted the fight and called me out in a disrespectful way on social media. I took the fight and knew I was faster than him. That fight led to me signing with DiBella.”

Despite his inactivity the past 2-plus years, in terms of fights, Sosa has kept busy in the gym, and he greatly benefited from four months in training camp this past May in Ft. Lauderdale (FL), sparring 50 rounds with George Kambosos, Jr. for his since postponed fight versus unified World lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez. Sosa used social media to get the sparring gig.

“I reached out to him on social media,” Sosa explained. “Every time he posted about his fight against Lopez, I replied asking him to bring me to his camp for sparring. One day I was DM’d by him on Instagram. He let me know his team watched my video and they wanted to bring me to his camp. I learned a lot there, more about my style, because I would just sit back as a boxer-puncher. I started to counter more, and my defense opened. I got a little more game from camp. When he did something, I wanted to come right back with it. The camp brought more of the fighter out of me. It opened my range and sharpened my defense.”

Sosa is a promotional free agent who has a new manager, Ryan Roach. The junior welterweight prospect is expected to be back in the ring next month at a site and date to soon be announced.

“I signed with Ryan because he is genuine and has proven himself,” Sosa noted. “Some doors were open to me, but he kept showing interest in me, and he never closed the door. He’s trustworthy and I want to be part of what he’s doing, and sign with a major promoter.”

“Signing Adrian means a lot to me personally because it took a lot of work over the past year,” manager Ryan Roach commented. “We built a relationship and I’ve proven to him what I do for my fighters. Adrian is special; I believe he could be one of the best fighters to come out of this region. He is a quick, talented fighter who has power and can work off of his defense very well. He also has a great work ethic. Adrian has all the tools to be a world champion. I look forward to guiding him as we are looking for tough fights right out of the gate. He’s been inactive but he’s ready, he’s learned a lot in the last two years. He was in camp with George Kambosos getting him ready for Teofimo Lopez I think that proves what kind of fighter Adrian is. Tonka will be a household name soon.”

Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker enjoyed a hot July with four members of its stable winning fights, as well as signing an Irish amateur boxer, and being represented by three at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Back on July 10^th in Miami, undefeated featherweight prospect Daniel “G.D.F.E.” Bailey (7-0, 4 KOs) took a 4-round unanimous decision from Mike Fowler. Bailey is scheduled to fight in his first scheduled 6-round bout August 28^th against Donte Dunnaville (3-0, 2 KOs) on a Hall of Famer Christy Martin-promoted show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Miami-native Bailey is training in Tampa.

Another undefeated fighter, “The Amazing” Shawn McCalman (8-0, 4 KOs) captured the ABF American West Super Middleweight Champion with a 6-round unanimous decision on July 10^th in Cheyenne (WY) over Vaughan Alexander (15-5, 9 KOs). McCalman fights out of Aurora, Colorado.

Two Fighter Locker stable members were victorious this past Saturday in Dedham, Massachusetts. Albany, NY junior welterweight RayJay “The Destroyer” Bermudez (13-0, 10 KOs) became the NBA Continental champion with a third-round knockout of Bergman Aguillar (15-8-1, 5 KOs) in the main event. Bermudez is also the ABF America West Super Lightweight Champion.

Weymouth, MA junior welterweight Eric “Gladiator” Goff (3-0, 2 KOs) was impressive, stopping Austin Reed Ward in the opening round.

Fighter Locker also recently signed Irish amateur boxer Thomas O’Toole to an exclusive managerial contract. The 23-year-old southpaw O’Toole is a promising light heavyweight prospect who captured top honors at the 2019 Irish Elite Championships.

Fighter Locker had three representatives in this year’s Olympics. Colombian flyweight Yuberjan “El Tremendo” Martinez, who captured a silver medal at the 2018 Olympics in Brazil as a light flyweight, reached the field of 8 before being eliminated.

Two-time Olympian is Dominican Republic lightweight Leonel de los Santos, who is 3-0 (3 KOs) as a pro fighting in the welterweight division, and Colombian middleweight Jorge Vivas were eliminated in the field of 32.

Fighter Locker fighters will remain busy as California super flyweight Rocco “So Cal Kid” Santomauro (21-1, 6 KOs) takes on Jeronil Barnes (11-5, 8 KOs) on August 21st in Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida. Miami light heavyweight Robert Daniels, Jr. (4-0, 4 KOs), the son of former WBA cruiserweight World champion Robert “Preacher Man” Daniels (49-10-1, 41 KOs), is slated to make his Fighter Locker debut on the same card.

“It has been a busy summer for my fighters,” Fighter Locker president Ryan Roach remarked. “I have been fortunate enough to keep them rolling. I am very impressed with all of their performances. Shawn McCalman was very impressive against Alexander. He is a very tough boxer. I had matchmakers and promoters calling me the next day saying your guy beat Alexander, which means he can fight. Daniel Bailey was also impressive in his homecoming. He boxed very well. We had a few takeaways. He really wanted the KO for his fans, but Mike Fowler hung in there. RayJay capturing the NBA title was a big win because he jumped in the rankings. He looked great delivering some vicious body shots. I am looking forward to Rocco and Robert stepping back in the ring August 21^st at Gulfstream Park & Casino in Florida.

“On the Olympic side, we didn’t bring home any medals, but we were close with Yuberjen. I think boxing politics got in the way of Leonel and Jorge, but that is part of the game. I am proud of my guys, and they are looking forward to turning to the professional ranks. They will be going home to rest for a few weeks, and we will get to work planning out their future.”

Like so many of his fellow Irish boxers, amateur standout Thomas O’Toole is following the green and gold path from Ireland to Boston, after signing a managerial contract with Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker.

The 23-year-old O’Toole is a promising light heavyweight prospect who captured top honors at the 2019 Irish Elite Championships. Last year, the Irish southpaw upset pre-tournament favorite Tony Browne in semi-finals of the Irish Elite Championships, and he lost by split decision in the final to Emmet Brennan, who is representing Ireland in Tokyo at the Olympics.

Irish boxer who’ve moved to the Boston area as a base for their professional careers include WBO World Super Middleweight Champion Stevie “Celtic Warrior” Collins (36-3, 21 KOs – 1986-97), WBA World light middleweight title challenger Sean Mannion (42-14-1, 13 KOs) – 1979-93), and heavyweight Kevin “The Clones Colossus” McBride (35-10-1 (29 KOs) – 1992-2011), best known as the man who knocked “Iron” Mike Tyson into retirement.

“I’ve only heard good things about Ryan, and I like the family aspect he talked about for his fighters,” O’Toole explained why he signed with Fighter Locker. “I know every manager will talk about how they will take care of you, but I really believed you, and I trust you will get a great promoter for me when the time comes. Plus, you have some Olympians, so you’re not taking just any and all fighters to sign. You want champions, which was the main thing for me. Knowing I’m in a stable with Olympians/national champions is great.

“I always intended to turn pro after Tokyo and had interest in waiting around for 2024 (next Olympics in Paris). It all worked out. I achieved more than I had hoped as an amateur an at just 23, I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring.”

O’Toole is tentatively scheduled to make his pro debut September 25th in Boston.

“Signing Thomas was very special to me,” manager Ryan Roach said. “He is one of the best in Ireland and in a very elite class. We talked a few times and we really hit it off. Last Friday, he shot me a message saying, ‘I’m all yours.’ I was ecstatic.

He really is a great fighter with a lot of skill. He’s a southpaw with some serious pop. Thomas is very young, so we will see which weight class suits him well. Boxing fans in New England, particularly in Boston, will love him. He’s a great person and fighter.”

Fighter Locker’s 2-time Olympian boxer Leonel de los Santos, representing the Dominican Republic, will be fighting for his boxing future in Tokyo at the Olympic Summer Games.

Only two Dominican boxers have ever captured Olympic medals in boxing: gold in 2008 by Manuel Felix Diaz and Pedro Nolasco, who took bronze in 1984.

The 26-year-old Santos, who already turned pro and has a 3-0 record with three first-round knockouts, was eliminated in the field of 32 at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil by Yoel Finol (Argentina), the eventual Olympic silver medalist in the flyweight division.

Now, Santos has one more shot at becoming the third Dominican boxer to medal at the Olympics.

“My amateur career has taken me to different national and international stages, in which I’ve proudly represented my country, the Dominican Republic,” Santos announced.

Currently rated No. 3 in the World in the lightweight division, Santos was a silver medalist at the prestigious Pan-American Games in 2019, where he lost to Cuba’s 3-time Pan-Am gold medalist Lazaro Alvarez, the 3-time World amateur champion and 2-time Olympic bronze medalist.

Alvarez and Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov (Uzbekistan) appear to be the lightweights to beat heading into the Olympics. Mirzakhalolov captured gold at the 2019 World Championships by defeating Alvarez in the championship final.

Santos is competing in a loaded lightweight division. In addition to Mizakhailov and Alvarez, two other leading contenders for an Olympic medal include Peter McGrail (Great Britain), the 2017 European champion who won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships, losing to Alvarez in the semifinals, and American Duke Ragan, the silver medalist at the 2017 World Championships and 2019 Pan American Games.

“It is a very special feeling having Leonel compete in Tokyo,” Fighter Locker president and Santos’ manager Ryan Roach said. “We’re talking about the best of the best, and he is favored to medal. He has been training very hard. He’s been waiting for this moment for the last year, since the Olympics were postponed last summer, and I I know he is very excited to represent his country again. Leonel is already known internationally but, if he can bring home a medal, it would bring a lot more attention to him because he’s competing in such a talented weight class. I’m excited to watch him compete in Tokyo. I couldn’t be prouder because he is such a great young man.”

Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker managerial company will have three representatives competing in Tokyo this summer in the Summer Olympic Games.

Colombian light flyweight Yuberjan “El Tremendo” Martinez, who captured a silver medal at the 2018 Olympics in Brazil, is currently rated fourth in the world by AIBA. His main opposition figures to be Artur Hovhannisyan (Armenia), Oscar Collazo (Puerto Rico) and Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov (Uzbekistan).

Martinez lost in the 2018 Olympic championship final to Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov, 3-0. A decorated amateur, Martinez won gold medals at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games and 2018 South American Games, silver at the 2019 Pan American Games and 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, and bronze at the 2017 World Amateur Championships.

Another 2-time Olympian is Dominican Republic lightweight Lionel de los Santos, who is rated No. 3 by AIBA behind Lazaro Jorge Alvarez (Cuba) and Tsendbaster Erdenebat (Mongolia). Santos, who was eliminated in the last Olympics in the preliminary round, is already 3-0 as a professional with three first-round knockouts.

Santos, 26, was a silver medalist at the prestigious Pan-American Games in 2019, where he lost to 3-time Pan-Am gold medalist Lazaro Alvarez, the 3-time World amateur champion and 2-time Olympic bronze medalist.

The third Fighter Locker Olympian is Colombian middleweight Jorge Vivas, a 33-year-old who won a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games.

“Adding these fighters to the Fighter Locker family was a huge accomplishment,” manager Ryan Roach said. “These guys are the best of the best in the world. You’re talking less than one-percent chance of making an Olympic team and two of three of my fighters are going back to the Olympics for the second time.

“After the Olympics, I will quickly transition these fighters into the professional ranks, as long as they are healthy and so forth. We have four fight dates set for them and representing their homelands proudly. I am very honored to represent these young men and guide their careers.”

Marvin Cordova Jr. & Robert Daniels Jr. Join Fighter Locker Stable

Veteran boxer Marvin “Much Too Much” Cordova, Jr (pictured above) and promising prospect Robert Daniels, Jr. (pictured below) are the latest additions to Ryan Roach’s growing Fighter Locker stable.

“Mr. (Jimmy) Burchfield (Cordova’s promoter) linked me up with Marvin,” Roach said. We had a few short conversations on the phone, and it just happened. Marvin is very passionate about the sport, and he’s read to show the worked he still has a lot left in his tank. He truly is a special fighter with a high-caliber resume including opponents like Victor Ortiz and Joselito Lopez. He has a great team around him now and we are really looking forward to getting him going.

“Robert is a great young man coming from a family just like mine. I am ready to get him going with a great trainer in Kevin Cunningham. I am proud to add him to the Fighter Locker team. He is really a talented fighter that had a few bad breaks early on in his career. He had managerial issues and so forth. Look for Daniels Jr. during the next year!”

The 36-year-old Cordova (23-2-1, 12), is a super middleweight from Pueblo, Colorado. A solid amateur who was a bronze medalist at the 2002 U.S. Under-19 and 2003 Police Athletic League, Cordova turned pro in 2014, but his pro career has been interrupted because spent 8 years in prison. He also defeated future pro world champion Daniel Jacobs

“I’m 36 but a young 36,” Cordova said. “I started boxing at 4. I had 242 amateur fights and was chosen as one of the top amateur boxers in the country. I spent 8 years in prison, and it made me a better person and hungrier fighter. I have some unfinished business to take care of. I really beat Joselito Lopez (Lopez won an 8-round decision). I hit him with a big shot in the sixth round, but they let him stay down for 4 minutes, claiming he was hit low.”

In his last fight this past January, Cordova captured the NBA super middleweight title by stopping 56-30-3 Hector Velazquez in round four, adding to his awards display case that also includes his Interim WBC Youth World, WBA NABA U.S. light welterweight, and GBU Youth light welterweight title belts.

“Ryan Roach believes in me,” Cordova noted. “I’m stronger and ready for the next step. I had talked with a friend, Jimmy Williams, about signing with a good manager. He told me Ryan was a good manager who loves his fighters and really cares about him. My promoter, ‘Mr. B’ (Jimmy Burchfield), hooked me up with Ryan. He calls to make sure I’m good and he can get me to the elite level once again.”

Daniels (4-0, 4 KOs) is the son of former WBA cruiserweight World champion Robert “Preacher Man” Daniels (49-10-1, 41 KOs), who became world champion in 1989, when he decisioned the future Hall of Famer Dwight Muhammad Qawi.

“There’s a little bit of added pressure as the son of a world champion boxer,” southpaw Daniels admitted. I’ve heard things like ‘he’s not going to be like his father, he doesn’t have what it takes to be world champion.’”

Now fighting out of West Palm Beach, Florida, Miami native Daniels is now trained by Cunningham. Managerial issues resulted in him fighting only four times as a pro during his nearly 5-year career.

“I was introduced to Ryan by my friend, Daniel Bailey (a member of Fighter Locker), and I believe Ryan can get me to a world title,” Daniels remarked. “The main reason I signed with Ryan is I like his personality. He’s easy to talk with and before I even signed with him, he reached out to me to see how things were going. And that’s a big reason why I did sign with him.

“I was supposed to sign with managers are few times, but it never went anywhere, and I wasn’t getting fights. I have this great opportunity now and I’m going to take full advantage of it.”

Fighter Locker Inks 2016 Olympic Silver Medalist Yuberjen Martinez

Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker has signed 2016 Olympic silver medalist Yuberjen Martinez to an exclusive managerial contract.

The 29-year-old Colombian light flyweight has a 7-0 (2 KOs) record in the World Series of Boxing.

“After having a beautiful amateur career,” Martinez announced, “we have decided to go pro and signed a managerial contract with Fighter Locker. I still plan to represent my country again at the Olympics this year in Tokyo. It is a pleasure for me to sign with Fighter Locker and Ryan Roach, who comes from a boxing family of tradition. I am sure that this new career change will be successful.

“I want to thank all those who have supported me as an amateur boxer and member of Team Colombia. I have learned a lot and put the name of country, Colombia, at the top through discipline. I will continue to count on their continued support throughout my professional career.”

Martinez lost in the championship final of the 2016 Olympics on points to Hassanboy Dusmatov, of Uzbekistan, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

In addition to winning a silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, Martinez was a bronze medalist at the 2017 World Amateur Championships in Hamburg Germany. His other amateur boxing highlights include a gold medal at the 2018 South American Games, silver at the 2019 Pan American Games in Brazil, and gold and silver, respectively, at the 2018 and 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games.

“I have signed a good number of top amateurs in their respective divisions, but none as decorated as Yuberjen,” Martinez’ new manager Ryan Roach said. “This is a unique opportunity as he heads back to the Olympics and is favored to medal once again. He truly is a special fighter: fast, strong, and relentless. Once he finishes the Olympics, we will get right to work and focus on the professional ranks. Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker Signs Boston Featherweight Troy Anderson, Jr.

BOSTON (December 7, 2020) – Ryan Roach’s Fighter Locker has signed Boston featherweight Troy Anderson, Jr. to an exclusive managerial contract.

Anderson, a union Sheetmetal worker in local 17, was a decorated amateur who won a gold medal at the 2016 Rocky Marciano Tournament, as well as The New England’s Tournament twice in 2018-2019, and won Central Division of the New England Golden Gloves Tournament twice and runner-up twice during his four-year (2016-2019) run. He also competed in three national tournaments.

Anderson, though, didn’t start boxing until he was 23, when he walked into a gym for the first time, 10 years after his two best friends introduced him to boxing. “I started in boxing because I hoped to succeed and reach my goals through boxing,” Anderson explained. “I train at Nonantum Boxing Club in Newton (MA), where Marc Gargaro is my coach. He’s one of the best in New England. He coaches for USA Boxing. I wouldn’t be in this business without him because he’s built me from scratch. I’m so glad to be coached by him and we’ve developed a bond like family.”

At the age of 28, Anderson has decided to turn pro, which, of course, is relatively late in boxing. But he still feels 21 because of the way he moves and that he wasn’t on the wrong end of beatings in the amateurs. He’s also gained confidence sparring with some of New England’s top pros and amateurs.

“I put a lot of hard work in the gym the past 5 or 6 years and I got tired of the amateurs,” Anderson explained why he decided to turn pro now. “It’s not too late for me; others have started late like me and went on to become world champion. I want to be in that group.

“I thank Ryan Roach for giving me this opportunity to join Fighter Locker. He’s honest and I was comfortable with him. I like him and know he’s going to keep an eye on me. Why not sign with a Boston manager to help put boxing here back on the map?”

“I’m excited about signing Troy Anderson, Jr.” Roach said. “I’ve been watching him for years and he’s developed well under Marc. Troy has fought the best in the country. He’s a very well-rounded fighter. I’m excited about adding him to the stable. He’s a BOSTON fighter and a great young man. It’s a win-win for us.”

Anderson realizes that he needs to move to set up his shots, throw multiple punches, and change angles. He’s a slick southpaw who normally doesn’t rush in the ring. Anderson is thrilled to know that ripping body punches will score points, unlike in the amateur ranks, and breakdown his opponent. He predicts that he’ll display more power than he did as an amateur.

“I’m driven to reach my goals,” he concluded. “I hope to make my pro debut early next year, pending pandemic restrictions. Ryan has kept his fighters busy, some fighting in Mexico. I love the challenge and can’t wait!”
