Julio César Chávez vs. Frankie Randall

May 7th, 1994

Mexican superstar Julio César Chávez, regained the WBC super lightweight championship, defeating Frankie Randall by technical decision in 8 rounds.  Randall had been the first boxer to defeat Julio.  That was on points. This  time around in the rematch, it concluded at two minute and 57 seconds of that round, after Julio was badly cut by an accident clash of heads and it went to the scorecards.  The bout took place at the MGM Arena Grand in Las Vegas.  The Referee was Mills Lane.  The Judges were Dalby Shirley, Ray Solis and Tomatsu Tomihara.

Frankie Randall R.I.P

(1961-2020)

Three-time world champion Frankie “the surgeon” Randall has passed away at the age of 59. He had a final career record of 58-18-1, 42 KOs, and was the first person to defeat the great Julio Cesar Chavez.

Randall’s first professional bout was on 4/2/83 with the last bout taking place on 15/7/05, having lost his last five consecutive bouts.

Rest in peace champ.
