Mexican superstar Julio César Chávez, regained the WBC super lightweight championship, defeating Frankie Randall by technical decision in 8 rounds. Randall had been the first boxer to defeat Julio. That was on points. This time around in the rematch, it concluded at two minute and 57 seconds of that round, after Julio was badly cut by an accident clash of heads and it went to the scorecards. The bout took place at the MGM Arena Grand in Las Vegas. The Referee was Mills Lane. The Judges were Dalby Shirley, Ray Solis and Tomatsu Tomihara.
