Incredible welterweight championship contest added to AO Arena fight night
Unbeaten 4-0 former Team GB Olympic hero Frazer Clarke bids to kickstart his year in style
Explosive heavyweight prospect Matty Harris also added to the bill
PLUS: Undefeated cruiserweight starlet Scott Forrest takes on a Belgian ‘Beast’
Eubank Jr vs Smith, in association with Wasserman Boxing, is live on Sky Sports Box Office
The British & Commonwealth, IBF European and WBC International Silver Welterweight titles will be on the lines as Ekow Essuman and Chris Kongo go head-to-head in a scintillating addition to the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Smith on Saturday, January 21 at Manchester’s AO Arena.
‘The Engine’ produced a comprehensive, unanimous points victory over BOXXER’s Samuel Antwi at the same venue last September to retain his British & Commonwealth titles and protect his flawless record (18-0, 7 KOs).
But Essuman will undoubtedly face a tough test in the form of ‘2 Slick’ Kongo in what promises to be a barnstorming title clash.
Kongo captured the vacant WBC International Silver Welterweight crown when he defeated Sebastian Formella last June in London. And he’ll be hungry to start the new year in style by putting the first dent on Essuman’s burgeoning CV and claiming two prestigious titles.
Rising heavyweight sensation Frazer Clarke is another sterling addition to the event which is broadcast live, in the UK and Republic of Ireland, on Sky Sports Box Office.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medal hero is eager to ascend up the heavyweight rankings this year and will return to the scene of his last victory.
An opponent will be named in due course but Clarke (4-0, 3 KOs) will be keen to remind the division of his incredible power as he did last November when he outclassed Kamil Sokowlski over six rounds.
Another explosive heavyweight prospect is confirmed for January 21 too in Matty Harris.
The hard-hitting Coventry fighter (3-0, 2 KOs) burst on the scene in 2021 and last year added two impressive stoppages to his résumé, defeating Mait Metsis and Pawel Strykowski. An opponent for Harris will be named soon.
And unbeaten Scottish cruiserweight starlet Scott Forrest (3-0, 3 KOs) will be keen to showcase his talent on the night when he collides with Amine ‘The Beast’ Boucetta (7-5-0).
BOXXER Founder and CEO, Ben Shalom said: “These are four terrific additions to what is already a blockbuster card. Tickets are selling out fast with a bumper crowd all set for an incredible night of boxing in Manchester.”
The main event – in association with Wasserman Boxing – sees bitter middleweight enemies Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Smith face-off in what promises to be an epic domestic clash for the ages as both rivals bid to take a giant leap towards their desired world title pursuits.
Elsewhere on the stacked pay-per-view card, Richard Riakporhe battles former two-time WBO cruiserweight world champion Krzysztof Głowacki, as local lad Jack Massey steps up to the heavyweight division to fight former world champion Joseph Parker.
Final remaining tickets are on sale now at Boxxer.com.

Boxen247.com Boxing News, Boxing Results, Women's Boxing Bradley Rea, Dale Arrowsmith, Dalton Smith, Frazer Clarke, Jack Kilgannon, Jonas vs. Dicaire, Jordan Ellison, Kaisee Benjamin, Kamil Sokolowski, Marie Dicaire, Meshack Mwankemwa, Natasha Jonas, Ross McGuigan, Tyler Denny, Viddal Riley 0
Natasha Jonas claimed her third world championship in the Super Welterweight division – along with the Ring Magazine title – to undoubtedly stake her claim to being the best woman in the world at 154lbs, and one of the pound-for-pound greatest women on the planet, in her victory over Marie Dicaire at an electric AO Arena, Manchester and live on Sky Sports tonight.
Both women came into this fight as World Champions, and both showed world championship spirit in their performances, with Jonas taking victory by unanimous decision (100-90, 98-92, 97-93) over 10 hard-fought rounds. Jonas landed big shots from the first round and had her opponent hurt at multiple points across the fight, but Dicaire fired back and didn’t stop coming forward all fight, giving the unified champion a lot to deal with.
Dicaire showed no sign of slowing down in the final rounds of the fight, and pushed Jonas back up against the ropes and fired off ferocious hooks to the body. Jonas was forced to use all of her skill and boxing ability to handle the torrent of offense coming towards her in the second half of the fight. That skill and the rounds she claimed in the early portion of the fight was enough to secure the victory for Jonas on the judges’ scorecards.
Jonas, the first woman to fight for Team GB at the Olympics, failed to claim a World Championship on the first two attempts of career, but has shown stunning heart and determination to win three over the last 9 months, and has now established herself as the best fighter in the world at a weight class 24 lbs heavier than where she first fought for a world title.
“As a boxer you’re never fully happy with your performance, it’s why you keep developing, go back to camp and are getting better. But I won, she was No 1 in the division and I’ve firmly established myself as a super-welterweight champion,” she said afterwards.

Dalton Smith def. Kaisee Benjamin – UD (115-114, 117-112, 116-113)
British super-lightweight champion Dalton Smith retained his title in an even, well-matched fight that went the full 12 rounds. Kaisee Benjamin gave Smith a hard 36 minutes, being evasive and awkward from the first to the last bell, and finding moments to land on Dalton Smith with powerful shots. But Smith just did more, using aggression and speed to nick enough rounds to take victory.
The fight was a 12-round chess match between two massively talented fighters who could both be in big fights in the future. Both men neutralised a lot of their opponents offense, refusing to allow themselves to be hit with combinations.
Smith’s workrate was slightly higher across the 12 technical, highly-competitive rounds, but the elusive Benjamin’s head movement and occasional switches to southpaw allowing him to avoid taking significant damage.
This was an enthralling fight for educated boxing fans and both fighters staked valid claims to be competitors at the highest level.
Frazer Clarke def. Kamil Sokolowski – PTS (60-54)
Olympic Bronze medalist Frazer Clarke gained six educational rounds against the benchmark for heavyweight prospects in Kamil Sokolowski, who had to use every trick in the book to survive the heavy-handed man from Burton.
Clarke cycled through the gears well, picking up the pace in the second half of the fight and finding the target with his shots more often.
Clarke wove uppercuts into his offense effectively and managed to work around Sokolowski’s tight guard and tendency to tie up his opponent in the clinch, switching his offense to the body when the opportunity arose. Caught by very few punches during the fight, he deservedly won every single round on the referee’s scorecard.
This was a vital experience for one of the most exciting and charismatic heavyweight prospects in the UK in Frazer Clarke, who looks set to follow in the footsteps of similar Team GB Olympic Super-Heavyweight medalists Joe Joyce and Anthony Joshua, and reach the very top of boxing’s blue riband division.
Tyler Denny def. Bradley Rea – UD (95-94, 95-94, 97-92)
English middleweight champion Tyler Denny successfully retained his championship in a fight many predicted would steal the show, and delivered on that excitement. Denny oozed confidence across the fight, firing off shots at will and managing the range of the fight expertly, despite Bradley Rea’s size advantage.
However, in the 9th round, after dominance from Denny, Bradley Rea found a devastating right hand to the body that left Denny almost incapacitated in the ring, allowing Rea to fire off and come within seconds of finishing the fight several times. Denny survived that onslaught and went on to take victory on the judge’s scorecards.
After a tight 1st round, Denny had huge success in the 2nd with a clutch of brutal straight left hands that stunned Rea. Bar the pure carnage of the 9th, the defending champion never looked in trouble, generally being in control of the pace throughout the fight.
Rea showed great heart and didn’t give an inch in front of his hometown crowd, giving Denny a massive scare in the penultimate round, but came up short in the end. Bradley Rea took a huge step up in this fight, and at only 24 years old, he looks set to come again soon.
Viddal Riley def. Ross McGuigan – TKO Rd 3 (2:27)
Another impressive knockout victory for the talented and popular cruiserweight Viddal Riley to maintain his undefeated professional record. Riley walked down and stopped a taller, awkward opponent in Ross McGuigan.
Viddal pushed forward all fight long, but used a strong guard and evasive head movement to protect himself from taking any damage in the process.
Eventually he pinned McGuigan against the ropes, crunching a right hook to the body and then capitalising on that opening to knock McGuigan down with a looping, overhand right to the head.
Viddal Riley is one of the most exciting prospects in the UK at 200lbs, and looks set to win titles in 2023.
Jordan Ellison def. Dylan Cheema – PTS (39-38)
BOXXER Series winner Dylan Cheema suffered the first defeat of his professional career in a razor-close, action-packed four rounds.
Both men hurt their opponent multiple times in the fight, with one moment where both men landed brutal shots that rocked the other at the exact same time being a summation of the 12 minutes of carnage as a whole.
Jordan Ellison showed himself to be far better than his record suggests, and stood up to Cheema’s aggressive style and fast footwork. The fight could have easily been scored either way, but that only lays the path for a potential rematch over more rounds in future.
Clark Smith def. Dale Arrowsmith – PTS (40-36)
Clark Smith successfully moved to 3-0 in his professional career, still having failed to lose a round, in a measured, intelligent performance. Smith varied his offense across the four rounds of the fight, mixing long jabs with battering hooks to the body for a dominating performance against a veteran opponent in Dale Arrowsmith.
Smith pushed hard in the final round to find a stoppage, landing a lot of shots across the round, but had to settle for another flawless points victory in front of his hometown fans.
Jack Kilgannon def. Meshack Mwankemwa – PTS (58-56)
Jack Kilgannon opened up the night’s action with a action-packed 6-round victory over an opponent who came to win in Meshack Mwankemwa. Kilgannon had success with his jab and worked in some powerful uppercuts in the first two rounds of the fight, but Mwankemwa kept coming forward with aggression, consistently launching clubbing hooks to the body and overhand rights.
This peaked in the 4th round where Mwankemwa landed a barrage of shots that left Kilgannon seriously hurt and reeling. After this Kilgannon smartly moved to a longer-range, boxing style, comfortably winning the last two rounds off the back of a disciplined jab and a well-deployed straight right hand.

Frazer Clarke def. Kamil Sokolowski – PTS (60-54)

Natasha Jonas, Dalton Smith, Frazer Clarke and many more will light up a blockbuster night of boxing on Saturday, 12th November.
The unified world WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine super-welterweight titles will all be on the line at the AO Arena in Manchester, England when Natasha ‘Miss GB’ Jonas faces defending Marie-Eve Dicaire.
Jonas (12-2-1, 8 KOs) conquered Patricia Berghult for the WBC belt earlier this month in her home city of Liverpool. The coveted green strap joined her pink WBO belt in her trophy cabinet – and now the former Olympian wants to add Dicaire’s IBF belt and Ring Magazine titles to her collection and write herself another glorious chapter in boxing’s history books.
Her quest for global domination takes Jonas into a clash with Canada’s two-time world champion Dicaire (18-1-0, 1 KO) in what promises to be a momentous world championship encounter with all three titles on the line.
Coming just weeks after a historic night of celebration for women’s boxing takes place on October 15th at The O2 in London – when Savannah Marshall faces Claressa Shields for the undisputed middleweight world titles – the contest further highlights the strength of the women’s sport in what has been a gala year for female boxing.
Southpaw Dicaire suffered her only professional defeat to date to Shields back in March 2021 following a unanimous decision. But she reclaimed her then vacant IBF title when she produced a stunning stoppage win over Cynthia Lozano last December in Montreal.
The main event between Jonas and Dicaire in Manchester tops the bill in what promises to be an unmissable BOXXER bill screened live and exclusively in the UK and Republic of Ireland on Sky Sports Boxing.
It includes a tantalising domestic co-main event between two of the country’s hottest super-lightweight prospects as champion Dalton ‘Thunder’ Smith (12-0, 10 KO’s) defends his British title against challenger Kaisee Benjamin (16-1-1, 6 KOs).
BOXXER earned the right to promote the mandated British championship bout between the two rivals when it won the purse bid earlier this month.
Former Team GB sensation Smith scored an impressive sixth-round stoppage win when he headlined in Sheffield last month – his third consecutive win inside the distance – to win the vacant title and take his number of professional stoppage wins to ten, including a 2021 TKO of BOXXER Series tournament semi-finalist Lee Appleyard.
Benjamin, from Birmingham, has 16 wins from 17 professional appearances and is undefeated in his last 13 fights. In June, he celebrated a unanimous decision win over Serge Ambomo at the Coventry Skydome to maintain his status as Smith’s mandatory opponent.
And Frazer ‘Big Fraze’ Clarke (3-0, 3 KO’s) will bid to continue his impressive and rapid rise up the heavyweight rankings as he takes on his toughest professional challenge to date in the form of experienced veteran Kamil Sokolowski (11-26-3, 4 KOs).
Clarke has won all three of his professional bouts thus far with three devastating knockouts – and the Tokyo 2020 Team GB Olympic bronze medalist will be hungry to add another stoppage to his burgeoning highlight reel in front of a packed crowd at the AO Arena – just a stone’s throw away from the home of his beloved football club, Manchester United.
Earlier in the evening, Manchester’s own Bradley ‘The Sting’ Rea (14-0, 6 KO’s) will put his unbeaten record on the line when he takes on English middleweight champion Tyler Denny (14-2-3). Rea has developed a reputation for an all-action style and will look to make this another crowd-pleasing contest for his hometown fans.
BOXXER CEO & Founder Ben Shalom, said: “This will be a massive night of boxing in Manchester.
“Tasha Jonas can etch her name in the history books by winning the WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine titles if she beats Marie-Eve Dicaire. I think this is Tash’s toughest test to date and it promises to be a spectacular women’s fight, just weeks after the iconic all-female card in London, on 15th October.
“In the co-main, Dalton Smith will be hoping to win the British super-lightweight title outright in what is a very, very tough challenge against Kaisee Benjamin. It’s a big fight and it will have huge consequences for the winner.
“Dalton is one of the finest young fighters in the country. We saw recently in Sheffield how his popularity continues to grow. Kaisee is a brilliant talent too and he’ll be hungry to pull off a major upset
“Frazer Clarke will go right to the top of this very exciting heavyweight division. He has a huge personality and the talent and commitment to go all the way. This fight against Kamil Sokolowski will offer a sterner test against experienced competition that fans will look forward to seeing
“Bradley Rea against Tyler Denny is a great fight. I saw Tyler in one of the fights of the year when he won the English title against River Wilson-Bent. This will be a huge test for Brad early on in his career. It is a compelling fight and possibly it could be the fight of the night. Brad has the chance to make a real statement in front of his home crowd on the big stage.”
Adam Smith, Sky Sports Head of Boxing Development, added: “Remember, remember the 12th of November, because this Fight Night will deliver more fireworks just a week after Bonfire Night.
“This truly is a great card, taking place in the iconic big fight city of Manchester, and it will be a night which promises to be a historic occasion with Tasha fighting for the unified world titles, just weeks after our iconic evening of women’s boxing at The O2 in London.
“And we’ll have a real spectacle in store with Kaisee Benjamin challenging Dalton Smith for the British title. Both men are hot prospects, who have huge futures ahead of them. This fight has all the makings of a domestic classic.
“Plus, after the controversy of his last outing in Liverpool, I’m delighted to see Frazer Clarke stepping it up against Kamil Sokolowski. A big man for a big night of boxing, live on Sky Sports – including the legendary Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton versus Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera, which takes place in an unmissable separate show by Europa Combat on the same evening, following the BOXXER card.”

Liam ‘Beefy’ Smith got a 4th round knockout of Hassan Mwakinyou in his return to home city of Liverpool, but it was not the perfect homecoming with the fight ending in confusion and controversy.
Smith was up against the heavy-handed Mwakinyo who had come to the UK and caused upsets against the home fighter in the past. Mwakinyo piled on the pressure in the early rounds of the fight, using fast jabs and powerful right hands, but Smith was feeling out his opponent’s rhythm and finding the openings .
Mwakinyo complained of ankle problems after a slip in the 2nd round, which seemed to impair his movement for the rest of the fight, and lead to the relatively unprovoked first knockdown in the fourth round, and the eventual second knockdown and stoppage at 1:46 into that round.
The Liverpudlian legend is ranked in the top five across multiple sanctioning bodies, and now looks more determined than ever before to claim another world championship. It looks certain that more huge fights are to come in Liam Smith’s career.
Full Undercard Results:
Natasha Jonas def. Patricia Berghult – UD (99-91, 100-90, 100-90)
It was a successful unification of the WBO and WBC Super Welterweight World Championships by ‘Miss GB’ Natasha Jonas in a 10 round barnstormer of a fight against an undefeated World Champion in Patricia Berghult. Patricia Berghult had genuine success boxing at long range in the first few rounds, but Jonas showed the heart of a champion to close the distance and land concussive shots for the rest of the fight.
Jonas turned the fight into a gritty brawl at close range, which she consistently dominated. Throughout the later rounds in the fight, Jonas made Berghult miss and landed brutal hooks to the head and the body. Jonas looked close to finding the stoppage throughout the closing rounds, but Berghult wouldn’t be put down, and kept scrapping until the final bell, meaning Miss GB had to take a wide decision on the judge’s scorecards.
Natasha Jonas was a proud representative of Liverpool in this fight, and the Liverpool crowd got behind their champion. Now she goes on to represent the sport in the biggest night in the history of women’s boxing next Saturday.
Frazer Clarke def. Pencho Tsvetkov – KO Rd 1/6 1:05
Olympic Bronze Medalist and fast-rising heavyweight sensation Frazer Clarke destroyed an opponent in Pencho Tsvetkov who had a single taste of Clarke’s power and instantly realised he didn’t want to be in the ring with him.
Clarke blasted him out in under 70 seconds and swiftly moved his thoughts on to the 4th opponent of his career, who will hopefully provide more of a contest.
Adam Azim def. Michel Cabral – KO Rd 1 (1:54)
The most electrifying young talent in world boxing Adam Azim scored his third consecutive 1st round stoppage and the 5th victory of his career in just over two minutes. Azim charged out from the first bell and claimed the centre of the ring, firing off lightning fast jabs and right hands, scoring a knockdown with a crippling hook to the body and then ending the fight with a clutch of straight right hands to Michel Cabral’s head that knocked him off his feet and rendered him unable to respond to the referee’s count to 10.
Cabral had never been stopped before in his professional career, having competed 45 rounds and taken five victories up to this point in his career. The future superstar from Slough made a massive statement with another explosive victory, showing the world that he is deadly serious when he says he plans to become the youngest World Champion in history.
Dan Azeez def. Shakan Pitters – UD (117-111, 117-112, 115,113)
British Light Heavyweight Champion Dan Azeez took a monumental unanimous decision victory over one of the best 175lb fighters in the UK in Shakan Pitters. Azeez overcame the 8-inch height difference between the pair with slick forward movement and destructive shots in a 12 round war. The fight kept a strong pace with constant action from the first bell to the final bell
The first half of the fight was highly competitive, with Pitters boxing well at range and landing with the right uppercut, while Azeez put the pressure on and landed shots from close range, as well as a set of powerful overhand rights in the 2nd round that did serious damage to Pitters. Azeez was finding more success in these rounds however, using excellent head movement while coming forward to avoid Pitters’s output and starting to build damage on Pitters with clubbing shots.
Pitters had periods of legitimate success in the later rounds, but Azeez continued to find ways to land shots and do damage. ‘Super’ Dan dictated the pace throughout the fight, putting the pressure on when he decided, and coaxing Pitters into a fight at longer range when he felt it necessary, showing outstanding ring generalship on his way to a career-defining victory.
Azeez now can rightfully claim to sit at the very top table of British Light Heavyweight boxing, and will now look towards even bigger and better things in his currently unblemished career.
Paddy Lacey def. Seamus Devlin – PTS 60-54
Former professional footballer and now 7-0 professional boxer Paddy Lacey took a comprehensive points victory over six rounds against a fiery opponent who had clashed with Lacey at the weigh-in. Lacey controlled distance well and made sure to come out better from every exchange, not leaving any question as to who won each round for the referee scoring the bout.
Nathan Quarless def. Toni Visic – PTS 60-53
Nathan Quarless sent his opponent tumbling to the canvas on the way to a totally dominant points victory. Visic is a highly experienced ring-veteran with over 50 professional fights and 20 victories, but Quarless made it look easy. The skillful scouse Cruiserweight landed shots throughout the fight and came close to putting Visic out for good at multiple points throughout the fight, but Visic showed grit and determination to reach the final bell. The referee’s scorecard reflects how Quarless won every second of every round.
Frankie Stringer def. Karl Sampson PTS 40-36
The first Liverpool native on the card took a composed victory against a fast-moving, elusive southpaw in Karl Sampson to take the second victory of his professional career. Stringer consistently held the centre of the ring and walked Sampson down with cannon-like jabs, but Sampson remained notably hard to pin down.
Stringer grew into the fight as it went on, finding more success in the 3rd and 4th round when Sampson started to slow, finishing strong and claiming victory in every single round on the referee’s scorecard.
Clark Smith def. Petar Aleksandrov – PTS 40-36
A measured, intelligent debut from the ‘Manchester Mexican’ Clark Smith against an experienced opponent in Aleksandrov, throwing neat, straight shots from the southpaw stance throughout the fight. Smith used long jabs and straight left hands throughout the fight in order to hit Aleksandrov without allowing the tough Bulgarian to land anything in return.
Smith showed some impressive punch variety in the final two rounds, working uppercuts and combinations into his output to finish the fight in serious style. This debut has put boxing on notice as to how good Clark Smith has the potential to be.
Musa Moyo def. Diego Costa – PTS 58-56
Musa Moyo managed to overcome a seriously tough, undefeated opponent in Diego Costa in a brutal, back-and-forth 6 round fight. Both men consistently landed shots throughout the fight, with Muyo being the more evasive of the pair, while Diego Costa brought formidable punch-power. Both men had success in this even fight, being reflected in the referee’s close scorecard to decide the winner. Both men will have won a lot of fans with their performances tonight.
Scott Forrest def. Dmitrij Kalinovskij – TKO Rd 3/4 (1:34)
Scott Forrest scored another devastating knockout in the first bout of the night to move his record to three wins and no defeats, with all victories coming before the final bell. He was consistently landing fast punch combinations throughout the first two rounds of the fight, with one in the third finally sending Kalinovskij to the canvas. He rose back to his feet, but an inch-perfect left hook, right uppercut combination knocked him down again and forced the referee to stop the fight.

Boxen247.com Boxing News BOXXER, Frazer Clarke, Liam Smith, Tasha Jonas 0
Fresh off his stunning stoppage win in Bournemouth last month, Burton battler Frazer ‘Big Fraze’ Clarke (2-0, 2 KO’s) is making a quick return to the ring for more heavyweight havoc.
The massive Midlander has been added to the line-up for the BOXXER event taking place Saturday, 3rd September at the M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool, live on Sky Sports.
Tickets for BOXXER: Liverpool – which sees hometown hero Liam Smith debuting with BOXXER and Tasha Jonas fighting for the unified world title – are on sale now via BOXXER.com, with prices starting at just £30.
Clarke, who captained the Team GB boxing squad at the 2020 Olympic Games and won a bronze medal for his country, will be making his third professional outing when he enters the ring in Liverpool.
Last month, he stopped twenty-fight Argentinian veteran Ariel Esteban Bracamonte in the final seconds of the second round, unleashing a combination which showcased his trademark mixture of ferocious power and technical boxing ability.
“I’m so excited to be fighting again so soon, especially in Liverpool which is one of my favourite fight cities in the world,” said Frazer Clarke.
“Liverpool is full of great characters and fighters. And it is a city which I have very fond memories in, notably when I won my ABA title there. I’m looking forward to bringing an exciting performance to the city on what is a great show which has some great fights on the card.”
Ben Shalom, BOXXER Founder and CEO, said: “We’re massively excited about ‘Big Fraze’s’ future with us at BOXXER. There are so many big fight nights to look forward to. For now, it’s important to see him back in action as we build upon that journey. But it was clear for all to see in Bournemouth just how devastating he can be, with his impressive knockout victory over Esteban Bracamonte. Frazer will fire another warning to the heavyweight division when he fights on what is an unmissable card in Liverpool on 3rd September.”
Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports, “Big Fraze was on blistering form in Bournemouth and now he’s back in action, making a quick turnaround to get on this Liverpool card to give boxing fans in the north of England a chance to see the kind of firepower he delivered at last month’s battle on the beach.
“This is Frazer Clarke’s third professional outing. He’s ended his first two well inside the distance and he’s surely going for the hat-trick in this one, as he continues his journey to greatness in what was once the gateway to the Empire, the great port city of Liverpool. Never a dull moment when Big Fraze is in the ring!”
Clarke, meanwhile, has also been confirmed as a studio guest on Sky Sports Box Office for the Anthony Joshua-Oleksandr Usyk fight night on Saturday, August 20th. Earlier that day, he will appear on Soccer AM, fronted by John ‘Fenners’ Fendley and Jimmy Bullard.
BOXXER: Liverpool sees the homecoming of former WBO world light-middleweight champion Liam ‘Beefy’ Smith (31-3-1, 18 KOs), who recently signed an exclusive promotional agreement with BOXXER. He kicks off his campaign for a second world title in a clash with heavy-handed Hassan Mwakinyo (20-2, 14 KO’s).
Clarke’s fellow Olympian Tasha Jonas – who made history for Britain and her home city of Liverpool when she became the first British female to box at the Olympics – is gunning to add the WBC world title to her collection. WBO champion Jonas (11-2-1, 8 KOs) faces Sweden’s unbeaten defending WBC world champion Patricia Berghult (15-0, 3 KOs).
BOXXER proudly presents this event in association with official partners bet365, Everlast, WOW HYDRATE and Village Hotels.

Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth, England – 30 July 2022
An electrified Bournemouth crowd cheered their hometown hero Chris Billam-Smith to victory in a brutal twelve-round war with Isaac Chamberlain for European and Commonwealth Cruiserweight Championships.
All three judges scored the contest 117-111 in favour of Chris Billam-Smith, giving him the unanimous decision victory in one of the most intense contests fought on British soil in recent years.
Both men threw hell for leather from the first bell to the last, with the second round especially action packed, both men inflicting visible damage on the other across the three minutes. Alternating between long-range bombs and close-range firefights, neither man willingly took a backwards step from start to finish.
The fight looked likely to end at any given moment, with advantage passing back and forth and one fighter dominating only to see the other come surging back. Isaac Chamberlain also managed to consistently find openings in Billam-Smith’s defense and looked the more energetic fighter of the pair in the Championship rounds.
Chris Billam-Smith has now more than earned his place at the top of the domestic Cruiserweight division and put himself into world title contention. He looks set for even greater glory in the years to come, and he can now confidently claim to have the whole of Bournemouth behind him.
Results
Joe Pigford bt Raphael King TKO Rd 3 – 1:49
Knockout artist Joe Pigford claimed another ferocious stoppage victory after overwhelming a skilled and powerful opponent in Raphael King.
Pigford landed a crunching bodyshot that forced his opponent to seize up, and then bullied him into the corner of the ring, and continued to batter his body while also mixing in some shots to the head, forcing the referee to end the fight and giving Pigford the 19th stoppage victory of his flawless 20 fight career.
This fight was an eliminator for the Commonwealth Championship and should stand Pigford in good stead to get the big fights he’s been craving for years.
Ben Whittaker bt Greg O’Neill KO Rd 2 – 0:21
‘The Surgeon’ Ben Whittaker delivered a stunning performance in one of the most highly anticipated professional debuts in British boxing history.
The Olympic Silver Medalist landed a perfect right hook to the temple in the second round that left O’Neill out cold on the ring floor. The first round was fiery as both men had moments of frustration in the clinch, while Whittaker sprinkled in some showboating as well.
Whittaker looked set for superstardom as a professional before this fight, and this scintillating knockout has only made this seem even more certain.
Frazer Clarke bt Ariel Esteban Bracamonte KO Rd 2 – 2:57
A brutal left hook sent Bracamonte tumbling to the canvas and granted Frazer Clarke victory, maintaining his 100% finish rate, right at the death of the second round of their fight.
Clarke was landing forceful punches throughout the two rounds of the fight, but Bracamonte took them well, and did fire back with jabs and straight rights towards Clarke at times.
Clarke showed impressive intelligence to set up the fight-ending left hook by throwing them to the body throughout the fight, then suddenly switching to the head, and landing perfectly as a result. Clarke came into this fight after some time out of the ring for surgery to his right hand, and will be keen to keep active from now.
Hassan Azim bt Jacob Quinn PTS – 59-55
The Hitman Adam Azim won every round but one on the referee’s scorecard in an impressive victory that took him to 4-0 in his young professional career. Azim came out at a blistering pace and scored a knockdown 14 seconds into the first round before throwing everything he had at Quinn, who somehow survived the first round’s onslaught.
The fight slowed into a more methodical pace from then on, with Azim handling Quinn’s evasive style effectively and peppering his body from short and long range across the five remaining rounds. Hassan Azim remains one of the most exciting prospects in British boxing and will have learned a huge amount from these six rounds.
Caroline Dubois bt Happy Daudi TKO Rd 3 – 0:46
Young Olympian Caroline Dubois took her record to 3-0 with a savage performance over an experienced opponent in Happy Daudi. Dubois was landing with barrages of shots from both hands across the three rounds of the fight, with Daudi showing great heart not to be stopped, despite being knocked down in the second round.
Dubois finally overwhelmed Daudi’s defenses in the third round and forced the referee to step in and end the fight. Caroline Dubois looks set to become one of the biggest stars in women’s boxing at only 21 years old.
Lee Cutler bt Meshack Mwankemwa PTS 6/6 – 58-56
Lee Cutler took a solid decision victory on the referee’s scorecard in an exciting fight in front of a vocal hometown crowd. Cutler boxed smartly in the first round, picking his opportunities to throw powerful hooks and do damage to his opponent well, and range-finding with his jab smartly.
The Bournemouth native picked up the pace in the second round, consistently landing powerful shots to the head and body. Cutler continued to find success in the third and fourth rounds, despite Mwankemwa showing tremendous heart and tenacity to keep coming forward and battle with Cutler.
The final two rounds of fight continued in a similar fashion, with both men landing shots, and Mwankemwa advancing, but Cutler consistently doing more damage, and being more successful on his way to victory.
Mikael Lawal bt Crispulo Javier Andino KO Rd 2 – 1:25
Mikael Lawal walked away with another stoppage victory on his undefeated record tonight after a deadly left hook to the body caused Javier Andino to slowly crumple to his knees and not stand up again until after the referee’s 10-count.
This came after a measured round and a half of jabbing and range finding from Lawal where he showed strong boxing intelligence. Lawal is now keen to take on Deion Jumah in a fight that’s been ordered to be for the British title.
Stevie McKenna bt Facundo Alberto Rojas KO Rd 2 – 2:59
Exciting welterweight Stevie ‘Hitman’ McKenna made a huge statement with a devastating 2nd round stoppage of a tough opponent that had never been stopped in his career before this fight. McKenna scored a knockdown in the 1st round after a thudding left hook to the body, and wore Rojas down across the second round, forcing the referee to wave the fight off after the Argentinian was able to return to his feet from another knockdown late in the round.

Boxen247.com Boxing News Ben Shalom, Ben Whittaker, Caroline Dubois, Chris Billam-Smith, Frazer Clarke, Hassan Azim, Isaac Chamberlain, Mikael Lawal, Stevie McKenna 0
BOXXER took over the Bournemouth beachfront today for a unique seaside set-piece at which press and public encountered the world-class professional boxers of this Saturday night’s BOXXER event.
Bournemouth’s own Chris Billam-Smith was on hand to work out and answer questions ahead of his headline showdown with London rival Isaac Chamberlain in this weekend’s main event, with BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom watching on.
Here’s today’s top quotes:
Ben Shalom, BOXXER CEO and Founder: “This is the one Chris Billam-Smith always wanted. He wanted to come back to Bournemouth. The turnout here today shows he’s a big star here in Bournemouth and he’s here to defend his European and Commonwealth titles.”
“Isaac Chamberlain, people will remember a long time ago when he fought Lawrence Okolie after only having had nine fights and being 23 years old. He’s built himself back up and people are underestimating where he is today both mentally and physically. We have an absolute 50/50 Cruiserweight war on our hands with a lot on the line as well on Saturday night.”
“I’ve never had a debut as anticipated as Ben Whittaker’s, with SugarHill training him as well. He’s got the perfect set-up to become a superstar, we see it for the first time on Saturday night and I really think he’s built for this. I’m not nervous, he’s not nervous”
Chris Billam-Smith: “It’s an honour for me to box in my hometown in front of my friends, family, and supporters. The town’s been behind me all these years. I’m fortunate to have such a great coach and be part of a world class gym surrounded by world class fighters that make me better. Isaac’s an amazing fighter, probably the hardest fight of my career so far, but that’s what I want, someone who can bring the best out of me.”
“Pressure is a privilege. It brings out the best in me, the harder the fights, the more riding on the fight, the better I’ll be, and I’ll always find a way to win if I have to.”
Isaac Chamberlain: “No one has been able to see the work I’ve been doing, because I’ve been away working on myself as an athlete and as a fighter. This is a great fight and a great test to show everyone the new and improved Isaac Chamberlain. Chris Billam-Smith is a great fighter so this is going to be a great fight.”
Ben Whittaker: “Pressure makes diamonds. There’s been a lot of talking, and Saturday I have to back it up, and I believe I will. I was ready for July 2nd, but this has given me more time to develop, more time to learn my craft, and more time to mature as a professional. I’ve been out in Miami, and that let me really focus. It’s all about finesse, and polishing the skills I already have. I want to show a mature performance on Saturday.”
Frazer Clarke: “Talk is cheap, and I want to prove myself by fighting better and better opponents through my career. We’re by the sea and everyone’s enjoying themselves with fish and chips, but I’m not here for a holiday. I’m here to do business, make no mistake about it.”
Caroline Dubois: “All my learning is being done in the gym. These fights help me get ready for doing it under the lights but we’re working on improving day-in day-out in the gym, so I feel like I’m coming on in leaps and bounds. I enjoy getting in the ring and sparring, every time I spar I get more confidence in myself and my ability.”
Stevie McKenna: “Me and my brother are very competitive. He got the knockout last time out so I want to get the knockout on Saturday night. I’ll be bringing my entertaining, destructive style. I go in to do damage, every punch I throw is with vicious intent and I want to show everyone how good I am. I can fight on the inside, I can box at long range. Hopefully I’ll put on a show and break into the top 10 in the world by the end of next year.”
Mikael Lawal: “I’ve been out of the ring for a little while and I told my team I need to fight someone who can get me ready to fight Deion Jumah.”
Hassan Azim: “Obviously I train with an amazing stable and it’s amazing to be around them. Chris Billam-Smith is in the main event on Saturday while I’m on the undercard. I’m only young and now I’m just gaining experience and a few years down the line I’ll be in the main event. I’m going to show improvement on Saturday. I’m improving all the time. I’ll show a six-round boxing masterclass but if I get the knockout it’s a bonus.”

Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth, England – 30 July 2022
The huge domestic clash between Chris Billam-Smith and Isaac Chamberlain at the Bournemouth International Centre on 30th July will headline a card featuring two 2020 Olympic Games medalists, one of the most explosive finishers in British boxing and a rising star tipped as a future great.
Ben ‘B£NZO’ Whittaker, who won silver at the latest Olympics and is now crossing over into the professional ranks with a stated intention of becoming the greatest British boxer of all time, will launch his professional career against solid opposition in the experienced County Durham fighter Greg ‘The Real Deal’ O’Neill (6-6-1, 1 KO).
Testament to Whittaker’s confidence in himself, he has elected to make his professional debut in a six-round fight, skipping the traditional four-round entry level. Coached by SugarHill Steward, who also trains Tyson Fury, the big-hitting Midlander is lauded as one of the most exciting prospects in the world.
Fellow medalist Frazer Clarke (1-0, 1 KO), who captained Team GB at the 2020 Olympics and won a bronze medal, returns to the ring for his second professional outing following his stunning first-round stoppage win on the undercard of Khan vs Brook in February.
The Burton-based ‘Big Fraze’ heads to Bournemouth in search of a second similarly emphatic finish, as he takes the next step of his journey towards conquering the domestic heavyweight scene.
Southampton KO sensation Joe Pigford (19-0, 18 KO’s) makes the short journey on the M27 to Bournemouth with his fanatical fans. He’s looking to put on another devastating performance, before returning home with his first championship title in his bag.
Thunderous puncher Pigford holds a 95% KO ratio and is on an unbroken 16-KO run. In Bournemouth he will challenge for the Vacant WBO European Super-Welterweight Championship and will take a huge step closer to world title contention if he wins.
Hard-hitting Scottish prospect John Docherty (12-1, 9 KOs) looks to make a big statement against the undefeated Manchester-based Brazilian puncher Diego Costa (8-0, 5 KOs) in an exciting shoot out that is sure to deliver drama.
Another 2020 Team GB Olympian in Caroline Dubois (2-0, 1 KO) continues on her career following her powerful first round stoppage of Martina Horgasz last time out and faces experienced Tanzanian Happy Daudi over six rounds.
Undefeated cruiserweight puncher Mikael Lawal (15-0, 9 KOs) looks for his sixteenth career win and possible tenth stoppage as he continues a journey which has taken him from homeless teenage gang member to the top tier of the British cruiserweight rankings.
One half of boxing’s hottest sibling talents, Hassan Azim (3-0, 2 KOs), will also look to extend his unbeaten record. After watching younger brother Adam capture his first championship title last week in Coventry with a blistering first-round stoppage, welterweight Hassan will be looking to display his own awesome firepower, following on from his own first-round KO win in March.
Completing the card is another hugely popular all-action Bournemouth fighter, Lee Cutler (10-1, 7 KOs). He has ended his last three fights inside two rounds, with his most recent victory winning him the Southern Area Super-Welterweight title.

Boxen247.com Boxing News BOXXER, Frazer Clarke, Sky Sports Box Office 0
Olympic Heavyweight Bronze Medallist Frazer Clarke underwent hand surgery yesterday and has withdrawn from the BOXXER Fight Night show on Saturday 26th March at OVO Wembley Arena, live on Sky Sports.
The action packed show is headlined with the big London cruiserweight collision between Richard Riakporhe and Deion Jumah, plus unbeaten light-heavyweight star Dan Azeez, Olympian talent Caroline Dubois; unbeaten lightweight hot shot Adam Azim faces Conor Marsden; his brother Hassan is in welterweight action; Chris Kongo; the pro-debut of London heavyweight star Jeamie TKV; Southampton hitter Joe Pigford; the pro-debut of Team England amateur star Jimmy Lee; Louis Greene and Harry Scarff square off for the Vacant English Welterweight title and super-flyweight prospect Shannon Ryan makes her pro-debut.
Clarke, 30, sustained a hand injury during a sparring session and following a successful operation, he will now allow time to rest and recover before commencing a course of rehabilitation treatment at Loughborough University.
He was due to face Spain’s Gabriel Enguema on the show, but the Burton-upon-Trent talent will not be able to punch for six weeks and it is anticipated that he will return to the ring again in 10-12 weeks’ time and resume his career.
‘Big Fraze’, who captured Bronze in Beijing last summer as the Team GB captain, made his pro-debut last month on the Amir Khan-Kell Brook undercard with a first round stoppage of Jake Darnell at the AO Arena Manchester to kick off his campaign in the heavyweight division.
Whilst the injury has put a slight pause in Clarke’s fight schedule this year, it is expected that Clarke’s hand will be significantly improved and he’ll return to his big-hitting best.
Clarke said, “I’m gutted to sustain this injury, but it’s part and parcel of boxing and these things happen through no fault of anyone. Thankfully during my time in boxing I’ve met some great people to point me in the right direction and I’ve now been fixed up, operated on, the operation went really well and I’m healing well. I’ll come back back stronger and I’ll use this time really well to develop in other areas. I’ll be back in no time and pick up where I left off.
Ben Shalom, BOXXER founder and CEO, said. “I’m really gutted for Frazer, but I’m glad he will be back so quickly. He will step up in the summer and then have a very strong end to the year.”
Freddie Cunningham, Managing Director at 258 MGT, said, “As frustrating as it is, we know Frazer will stay dedicated and we have and will ensure that he gets the best treatment and rehabilitation possible. We will use the time wisely to come back as soon as possible and with even more drive.”

OVO Arena Wembley, London, England – 26 March 2022
Media turned out in force today to attend open workouts headed by cruiserweight contender Richard Riakporhe and his rival Deion Jumah ahead of their March 26 showdown at OVO Arena Wembley, live on Sky Sports.
Joining Riakporhe and Jumah were several standouts from the card, including British light-heavyweight champion Dan Azeez, the Olympian and Team GB member Caroline Dubois and the Azim brothers Adam and Hassan.
Here’s what the headline protagonists had to say today:
RICHARD RIAKPORHE
“The girls are often chasing after me so I am not surprised that someone like Jumah wants me too.”
“The fight makes sense because other opponents fell through and I want to fight. On paper it’s a good fight – he’s southpaw, he can box, he’s undefeated. But I can box southpaw as well, so we will see what happens on March 26. the most important thing is to get the win, by any means necessary. I believe I stop him.”
DEION JUMAH
“I think I beat him over every round and maybe stop him in the later rounds. He’s a big guy, strong puncher but I don’t rate his boxing ability at all. He doesn’t have what I have in terms of boxing skills, in any way, shape or form.
“He’s beaten a lot of unbeaten fighters, I don’t expect it to be an easy fight but I expect to outbox him. I have to nullify his power and then the opportunities to stop him will present themselves.”
Headlining the BOXXER Fight Night event will be a key clash in the British cruiserweight division between Richard ‘The Midnight Train’ Riakporhe (13-0, 9 KO’s) against rising threat Deion Jumah (14-0, 7 KO’s) in a mouthwatering showdown.
British Light-Heavyweight Champion Dan Azeez (15-0, 10 KO’s), who will make his first defence of the belt he won by stopping former champion Hosea Burton in November.
Olympic medallist and Team GB captain Frazer Clarke (1-0, 1 KO) takes the next step of his professional journey and looks to pick up his second win when he faces Spanish power-puncher Gabriel Enguema (10-12, 6 KO’s).
Clarke’s fellow Olympian Caroline Dubois (1-0) will join him at Wembley for her second professional contest, having successfully entered the pro ranks with an emphatic win in Cardiff last month. Younger sister of Daniel Dubois, Caroline won numerous plaudits as a 37-3 amateur and has the potential to become one of the faces of the women’s sport worldwide.
Lightning-fast lightweight Adam Azim (3-0, 2 KO’s) – one of the top prospects in British boxing today – faces Conor Marsden, while his brother Hassan Azim (2-0, 1 KO) – equally highly regarded – has a four-round contest in the welterweight division.
Former WBO Global Welterweight Champion Chris ‘2 Slick’ Kongo (12-1, 7 KO’s) aims to get back into world title contention this year and signed a multi-fight promotional deal with BOXXER earlier this year in pursuit of that aim.
Trained by renowned coach Ben Davison, who counts Undisputed World Super-Lightweight Champion Josh Taylor among his stable, Kongo will be kicking off his world title campaign on this card.
Ben Davison will also be in the corner of London heavyweight Jeamie TKV as he makes his professional debut against Luke Batstone. TKV’s highly-decorated amateur career included tenure as the Southern Area Heavyweight Champion and English Heavyweight Champion plus a silver medal at the 2019 African Games.
Southampton’s Joe Pigford (18-0, 17 KO’s) – owner of some of the heaviest hands in British boxing – seeks to add yet another stoppage win to his unbelievable record when he faces Argentina’s Guido Pitto (27-9, 8 KO’s). Pigford presently has 94% of his victories by way of KO or TKO.
The 18-year-old Team England amateur standout Jimmy Lee – winner of eight national titles and a European gold medal – makes his professional debut in a lightweight contest against Luke Merrifield after ending his amateur career with a 94% win ratio (47-3).
A key clash in the English welterweight division sees Louis Greene (13-2, 7 KO’s) face off with Harry Scarff (10-2, 3 KO’s).
Opening the card will be Anthony Joshua’s female prospect Shannon Ryan. Joshua signed the super-flyweight to his 258 MGMT agency recently and intends to guide her to world champion status in the coming years.

OVO Wembley Arena, London, England – 26 March 2022
A key clash for the British cruiserweight division will headline the BOXXER Fight Night taking place Saturday, March 26 at OVO Wembley Arena as Richard ‘The Midnight Train’ Riakporhe (13-0, 9 KO’s) faces rising threat Deion Jumah (14-0, 7 KO’s).
Previously scheduled to face different opponents on the March 26 card, the London cruiserweight rivals are now on collision course following the withdrawal of Fabio Turchi and Mikael Lawal due to injuries sustained in training.
Two undefeated records are on the line in this huge clash of cruiserweights in the capital city. More importantly, Riakporhe is on track for world title contention in 2022 – a win here would be a career breakout for Jumah and open the door to big opportunities.
“The Midnight Train is on a roll and I’m not letting anything stop me in my tracks. I’m pulling into Wembley Arena once again on March 26 and I’m coming with all the smoke. This one is going to be a treat for the fans,” said Riakporhe.
“I’d actually been watching Riakporhe online a couple of weeks ago. We have all the tools needed to pick Richard apart and stop him – and this is what’s happening on the 26th. I’ve seen loads of weaknesses in him and loads of flaws,” said Jumah.
“Fans will see why I’ve been the most avoided fighter on these shores for so long. They will see that some fighters just need their opportunity. They’ll see why I’ve been saying I’m the best cruiserweight in the country for so many years. This is my time now!”
BOXXER Founder and CEO Ben Shalom said, “Richard Riakporhe has shown great progress from fight to fight and he’s on track to secure a world title shot this year. With Turchi pulling out I think it says a lot about his character that he’s willing to take on an unbeaten domestic test like Deion Jumah. It’s a great fight for the fans and it’s a challenge Riakporhe must overcome to achieve his dreams and fulfil his potential.”
Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports, said “Richard Riakporhe is really gathering momentum as he climbs the cruiserweight ladder and now his brilliant story takes a twist. With Fabio Turchi out, in steps the undefeated and dangerous British southpaw Deion Jumah for a really intriguing fight night live on Sky Sports on March 26th.”
Also announced for the March 26 card today is British Light-Heavyweight Champion Dan Azeez (15-0, 10 KO’s), who will make his first defence of the belt he won by stopping former champion Hosea Burton in November.
Prior to the headline and chief support bouts, Olympic medallist and Team GB captain Frazer Clarke (1-0, 1 KO) takes the next step of his professional journey and looks to pick up his second win when he faces Spanish power-puncher Gabriel Enguema (10-12, 6 KO’s).

12×3 Mins Welterweight Contest
KELL BROOK W TKO 6 AMIR KHAN
Fight Notes:
A British boxing rivalry simmering for more than ten years finally came to the boil on Saturday night at the AO Arena, Manchester as Kell ‘Special K’ Brook (40-3, 28 KOs) channeled years of antagonism to stop Amir ‘King’ Khan (34-6, 21 KOs) in the sixth round, the referee stepping in to save Khan from further punishment.
Speaking after the fight Brook said: “I’ve sacrificed so much time to train for this fight, they won’t remember all of my fights they’ll just remember me fighting Amir Khan. No disrespect to Amir, but it felt so easy in there, I’m happy the chapter has closed on Amir Khan now.
“This is the icing on the cake in my career, I can feel at peace knowing I’ve beaten him. Do I want to carry on? I’m going to sit down with my family and consider my future in the sport.
“I would’ve wanted more of a clinical knockout, like how Canelo did. But he’s been fantastic for the sport, he’s a two-time world champion for a reason and I’m just happy that we got to fight.”
The night that fight fans have been waiting for proved its weight in gold as both fighters left everything in the ring on fight night. Brook, the former IBF welterweight champion, applied the pressure from the opening bell as he looked for every opening to hurt Khan.
The action unleashed in the very first round as Brook rocked Khan on his feet multiple times, the crowd reacting with awe as Khan then fought back to land hurtful punches of his own. Towards the end of the third, Brook attacked on the front foot sending Khan into the ropes and hanging on until the end of the bell.
Khan showed guts and resilience through the fifth round to stay on his feet following an onslaught from Brook, but again it was ‘Special K’ who was controlling the distance and the tempo of the fight. The accurate right hand was reaching over the guard of Khan throughout the fight, and it proved to be the difference.
With both men coming into the fight with intentions of retiring each other, Kahn answered the question on his future in the sport following the defeat, he said: “It could be the time, I need to speak with my family. I just feel like I couldn’t get in a groove, it’s something I need to think about.
“The better man won, he put on a great performance tonight and there’s no disrespect to him because he came out to win.
“It was one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever fought in, the fans came out to watch a great fight and they got what they paid for.”
Manchester played host to a night of British boxing that will go down in the history books.
10×2 Mins Vacant WBO Female World Super-Welterweight Championship
NATASHA JONAS W TKO 2 CHRISTIAN NAMUS
Fight Notes:
Topping the undercard action, Natasha Jonas (11-2-1, 8 KOs) became the new WBO super welterweight champion with a brilliant second round stoppage over Christian Namus (25-7, 8 KOs) in the second round. The result sent the Manchester crowd into joy as Britain claimed another world champion.
The southpaw dropped her opponent towards the end of the first round with a perfectly timed right hook following a piercing straight left. Namus wasn’t out of the dark for long as at the start of the second round, Jonas applied the pressure yet again, forcing the stoppage.
After world title defeats in recent memory to Katie Taylor and Terri Harper, Jonas can finally call herself a world champion after jumping up three weight divisions for the opportunity.
6×3 Mins Heavyweight Contest
FRAZER CLARKE W TKO 1 JAKE DARNELL
Fight Notes:
Earlier in the undercard action, 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Team GB captain Frazer Clarke (1-0, 1 KOs) marked his debut in the professional game with an emphatic technical stoppage over Jake Darnell (0-1). Darnell’s corner threw in the towel in the first round after a barrage of vicious attacks from Clarke.
The 32-year-old starts his professional career in the heavyweight division in the perfect manner as the crowd lifted in jubilation as the pummelling blows landed.
4×3 Mins Welterweight Contest
HASSAN AZIM W PTS 4 MJ HALL
Fight Notes:
Hassan ‘The Hitman’ Azim put on a dominant performance at the AO Arena, Manchester as he defeated MJ Hall (2-74-2, 0 KOs) via unanimous decision. The referee scored the bout 40-36 in favour of Azim.
Azim threw an assault of punches throughout the whole fight but struggled to land the critical blow to put away his man.
6×3 Mins Super-Lightweight Contest
ADAM AZIM W TKO 3 JORDAN ELLISON
Fight Notes:
Like his brother, Adam ‘The Assassin’ Azim (3-0, 2 KOs) continued his young career in emphatic fashion on the night as he floored Jordan Ellison (13-36-2, 1 KOs) with a leaping left hook in the third round.
The 19-year-old showcased stylish ring dominance in the fight as he used the jab to set up an array of attacks upon his opponent. Azim dropped Ellison at the end of the first round with a brutal body shot and targeted the body throughout the fight, telegraphing the knockout punch in the process.
8×3 Mins Middleweight Contest
BRAD REA W TKO 1 CRAIG McCARTHY
Fight Notes:
Manchester’s own Brad ‘The Sting’ Rea (12-0, 5 KOs) sparked a frenzy in the AO Arena, Manchester as he knocked out Craig McCarthy (8-1-1, 2 KOs) in the first round with a left uppercut that landed perfectly on the travelling Irishman.
Rea who is training out of the Ricky Hatton gym, proved his worth as one of the most exciting British fighters in 2022 with his slick and powerful boxing ability. The unbeaten 23-year-old will be itching to get back in the ring again as the domestic middleweight division continues to heat up.
6×3 Mins Cruiserweight Contest
VIDDAL RILEY W PTS 6 WILLBEFORCE SHIHEPO
Fight Notes:
Viddal Riley (5-0, 2 KOs) marked his first fight under the BOXXER banner with a stylish unanimous points victory over Willbeforce Shihepo (25-14, 18 KOs). Riley floored the Namibian in the first round with a brilliantly timed right uppercut, however, Shihepo showed heart as he lasted the scheduled six rounds.
The referee John Latham scored the bout 60-53 Riley, which proved to be a successful night for the cruiserweight who was fighting in the United Kingdom for the first time in his young professional career.
10×3 Mins English Super-Middleweight Title
GERMAINE BROWN W PTS 10 CHARLIE SCHOFIELD
Fight Notes:
Germaine Brown (12-0, 3 KOs) became the new BBBCofC English super middleweight champion as he closed out the champion Charlie Schofield (17-2, 1 KOs) over ten closely fought rounds to win via unanimous decision.
The judges scored it 98-92, 99-92 and 98-92 all in favour of the 27-year-old from London in what proved to be a great domestic scrap early in the night.
4×3 Mins Featherweight Contest
ABDUL KHAN W PTS 4 RICKY STARKEY
Fight Notes:
Amir Khan’s cousin featured early on the bill as 19-year-old Abdul Khan (3-0, 0 KOs) demonstrated a sharp performance in his third professional outing as he defeated Rocky Starkey (2-21-2, 0 KOs) over four scheduled rounds.
He dropped the Liverpudlian Starkey in the first (but looked more like a slip on the replay). The bout was scored 40-35 for Khan by the referee.
4×3 Mins Super-Bantamweight Contest
IBRAHIM NADIM W PTS 4 TAKA BEMBERE
Fight Notes: Opening the card, Ibrahim Nadim (6-0, 0 KOs) continued his unbeaten record as a professional with a dominant points decision over Taka Bembere (1-23, 1 KOs) in the super bantamweight division. Judges scorecard was 40-36.

AO Arena Manchester, England – 19 February 2022
The already-packed undercard for BOXXER: Khan vs Brook solidified its heavyweight status today with the announcement of three further key fights added to the line-up for Saturday, February 19 at the AO Arena Manchester, live on Sky Box Office.
The card’s contingent of Olympians now doubles with the addition of Liverpool sensation Natasha ‘Miss GB’ Jonas, who blazed a trail for women’s boxing in 2012 when she became the first British female to box for Britain at the Olympics.
The vacant WBO Female World Super-Welterweight Championship – held until recently by Savannah Marshall’s arch-rival Claressa Shields – will be on the line when Jonas, the former WBA International Super-Featherweight Champion, faces two-time WBC Female World Super-Welterweight Champion Ewa Piatkowska.
With more than half of Jonas’ wins coming by way of stoppage and Polish phenom Piatkowska having ended a quarter of her bouts early, the judges may not be needed when the two world title contenders meet in the middle of the ring next month in Manchester.
Having made history twice – first as the first-ever female boxer to compete for Team GB and then, three years later, as Britain’s first female boxer at the 2012 Olympic Games – Jonas’ ferocious fighting style made her a firm fan favourite when she eventually crossed over to the professional ranks.
As a professional she has twice challenged for world titles, receiving a controversial draw decision against WBC and IBO champion Terri Harper in 2020 and taking bitter rival Katie Taylor the distance in 2021. Third time will be the charm when Jonas enters the ring next month.
“Before I signed with BOXXER, my management MTK and I had a meeting with Ben Shalom and told him what my goals and ambitions were and what I wanted to achieve before leaving the sport. I knew it wouldn’t be easy with so many champions tied up but Ben assured me he would make it happen and he hasn’t let me down,” said Jonas.
“I know it’s a big risk but those risky fights have brought out the best in me and I’m ready. I’m looking forward to it, it couldn’t be on a bigger show for north-west boxing and after I’ve boxed I’ll be in the crowd myself to enjoy the main event. I am over the moon and I don’t want to step up and get that world championship.”
Ben Shalom, BOXXER Founder and CEO, said “Natasha Jonas has been a pioneer for female boxing in the UK and we’re delighted that we were able to deliver this opportunity for her to add a major world title to her outstanding list of achievements on what will be the biggest British boxing card of the year.”
Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports, “It’s absolutely fabulous that Natasha Jonas, one of our leading fighters, has a golden opportunity of lifting the world title on such a huge occasion. This is once again a tough challenge for Tasha as she must get through highly-regarded former world champion Eva Piatkowska. It’s a cracking chief support fight on the massive Khan-Brook card and a wonderful chance for Tasha to make her boxing dreams finally come true.”
Following an incredible October battle with Jez Smith – a 2021 Fight Of The Year Contender and instant classic – Manchester’s Brad Rea returns to the ring for an eight-round rumble with undefeated Irish southpaw Craig McCarthy in what is a very evenly-matched fight which the night’s best man will win.
With neither Rea nor McCarthy being fans of taking a backwards step, another classic firefight could be on the cards. The hometown crowd will be behind Rea but McCarthy won’t be alone either: Manchester has one of the largest Irish populations of any city in the UK, with an estimated one-third of the citizenry drawing some form of Irish descent.
A vocal army of supporters will be in attendance when Manchester man Charlie Schofield enters the arena to make his first defence of the English Super-Middleweight Championship. Schofield won the belt with a shutout win over Mickey Ellison in June last year and is intent on a triumphant night for himself and the home fans.
Seeking to spoil the party is Germaine ‘G-Man’ Brown. He’s gone 2-0 under the BOXXER banner, with both of those fights taking place at the famed Wembley Arena in his home city of London. Now a hostile crowd and a cold welcome await him as he heads north on a mission to dethrone the Mancunian on home soil.
The massive fight card also features the professional debut of Olympic Bronze Medallist Frazer Clarke; top cruiserweight prospect Viddal Riley and two of the most exciting talents coming through the sport in brothers Adam Azim and Hassan Azim; plus Yorkshire hot prospect Ibrahim Nadim.

Boxen247.com Boxing News Frazer Clarke, Khan vs. Brook 0
Olympic heavyweight hero Frazer Clarke, who captained Team GB at the 2020 Olympic Games and won a medal for Great Britain, will make his highly anticipated professional debut at the BOXXER: KHAN vs BROOK event taking place Saturday, February 19 at the AO Arena Manchester, exclusively live on Sky Box Office.
Clarke, from Burton, Staffordshire, signed an exclusive long-term promotional agreement with BOXXER and Sky Sports soon after announcing his decision to turn professional in the wake of his Olympic triumph. Subject to licensing by the BBBofC, Clarke’s appearance is eagerly awaited on the massive Khan-Brook card – one of the biggest events of 2022.
As he begins his professional journey, Clarke is set on replicating the success he had as an amateur, where his honours included a bronze medal in the super-heavyweight category in the Tokyo 2020 Games, a gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and gold medals at the 2014 and 2018 European Union Championships.
Anthony Joshua – Clarke’s former sparring partner at Team GB – will play a key role in guiding him on that journey, with Clarke having signed to Joshua’s 258 MGT management label.
“I am delighted to be making my debut on such a big night for British boxing. Both Amir and Kell are legends so to be on their undercard is amazing. Burton is my home town and a place I love but Manchester holds a special place in my heart, so to start my journey in front of their fans is special. Training is going great and I am 100% focused on putting on a spectacular and entertaining show for everyone in the pros.” said Clarke.
Ben Shalom, BOXXER Founder and CEO, said “It was a proud moment for everyone at BOXXER and Sky Sports when the Team GB captain chose to sign with us and it’s fitting that he will begin his professional journey on the same card as his fellow Olympian and Team GB trailblazer Amir Khan.”
Freddie Cunningham, Managing Director at 258 MGT, said “As captain of the Team GB Boxing team and given his achievements as an amateur, Frazer deserves the biggest possible platform for his debut and Khan v Brook is that. Frazer has a great set up at Loughborough and will be in great shape for his pro debut.”
Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports, said “We were all so thrilled when Frazer signed an exclusive deal with BOXXER to showcase both his skills and personality on our huge platform. We have built all the British heavyweight stars on Sky Sports and will do everything we can to help Frazer become the next one. The Team GB Captain has the experience, minerals and popularity to appeal to a cross over audience and the huge Khan-Brook show in Manchester on February 19th is the perfect stage for the launch of his enticing professional journey.”
Tickets for February’s event sold out in just 600 seconds when they went on sale in December, making the event one of British boxing’s biggest box office blockbusters. A capacity crowd will be in the AO Arena Manchester to witness bitter rivals Amir Khan and Kell Brook settle their long-running feud in the main event, live and exclusively on Sky Sports Box Office.

Heavyweight Olympic Hero Enters Professional Ranks After Winning Medal for Great Britain At 2020 Olympic Games
Former Team GB Teammates Reunited As Clarke Signs With Anthony Joshua To Manage Professional Career
The Burton, Staffordshire standout will make his highly-anticipated professional debut next year and is set on pursuing further honours to add to an extensive list which includes a bronze medal in the super-heavyweight category at the Tokyo 2020 Games, a gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and gold medals in the 2014 and 2018 European Union Championships.
Anthony Joshua – Clarke’s former sparring partner at Team GB – will once again play a key role in Clarke’s boxing career, this time as a mentor. Clarke signed with Joshua’s management label 258 MGT shortly after announcing his intention to turn professional and will benefit from his former sparring partner’s experience as he begins his journey in the professional game.
“Signing with BOXXER is massive for me. Since I got back from the Olympics there’s been a lot of interest in where I was going to go. After weighing up all the options and speaking to the guys at BOXXER and Sky Sports, I came to this decision and here we are, ready to take the first step,” said Clarke.
“There’s a long road ahead of us but I’m more than willing to learn. It’s going to be a difficult task to get to where I want to be, to become a world champion. But I want people to follow the journey because I’m sure it’s going to be exciting.
“Anthony Joshua is on the end of the phone and he’s one of those people that’s been there and done it. I’d be silly to have access to him and not use it. Definitely that will be a phone call I’m looking forward to!”
Ben Shalom, BOXXER Founder and CEO, said “For the Team GB captain to choose us as his partners in professional boxing is a very proud moment for everyone at BOXXER and Sky Sports. Frazer Clarke is an outstanding sportsman and role model and we are very excited about the journey which lies in front of us.
“This is a landmark signing for us. Frazer is the next big thing in British heavyweight boxing and now coming off his success in Tokyo he’s set on winning major world titles in the professional ranks. With his pedigree, I think it’s only a matter of time.”
Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports, said “Everyone at Sky Sports is hugely excited that Frazer Clarke has signed a promotional deal with BOXXER. It’s a massive announcement in our new era for Sky Sports Boxing. I’ve been a huge fan of ‘Big Fraze’ for years. He’s a high-class heavyweight with an all-action style, and he’s also a great ambassador for the sport.
“Frazer’s Olympic medal was a fitting reward for Team GB’s fantastic captain, who has proven himself against the world’s elite amateurs – and now he launches his pro career! We at Sky Sports will be with Frazer on every step of the journey as he aims to fulfil his ambition of becoming a world heavyweight champion.”
Will Harvey, Head of Boxing at 258 MGT, said “We are delighted to have Fraser join Sky Sports and BOXXER today. We have a long and successful working relationship with Sky and to continue this with Frazer and the BOXXER team is really exciting.
“As the captain of the GB squad, Frazer will no doubt provide valuable guidance to the rest of the platform’s stable and it’s great for him to be aligned with a platform and promotional outfit who match his ambition. We can’t wait to get started!”

Boxen247.com Amateur Boxing Arlén López, Bakhodir Jalolov, Ben Whittaker, Frazer Clarke 0
It was disappointing double defeat for GB Boxing’s contenders on day 12 at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as both Ben Whittaker and Frazer Clarke missed out on upgrading their medals.
Light heavyweight (Under 81kg) boxer Whittaker was boxing for gold as he took of Cuba’s Arlen Lopez, while super heavyweight (Over 91kg) Clarke took on Bakhodir Jalolov for a place in the final.
But both were edged out by highly experienced and decorated opponents despite brave and creditable performances.
Firewalker’s Whittaker started brightly against Lopez, who won a gold in Rio at a different weight, with a series of sharp jabs.
But Lopez’s front foot style caught the eye of the judges, enabling him to take the opening round 5-0 and leave Whittaker with a mountain to climb.
The GB boxer landed more telling shots in the second round, but again Lopez’s work was favoured as he took it on a 4-1 split, leaving the Brit realistically needing a final round knockout.
It did not come as Lopez used all his experience and class to stay out of harms way and prevail 4-1, which resulted in a 4-1 overall success for the Cuban.
After the bout, despite a brilliant tournament, Whittaker could not hide his frustration and disappointment.
He said: “You don’t win silver, you lose gold, and I’m very disappointed with myself. I don’t want to look like a baby or a spoilt brat, but I’m just so upset I didn’t win the gold.
“The mayor of Wolverhampton did a little video for me wishing me good luck and he said if I could get the gold, I could get the chain. I didn’t get the gold, so I’m sure he can keep it for a bit!
“When I do go pro and get a World Championship belt, then maybe we can talk about this again.”
Earlier, Clarke took on number one seed and reigning world champion Jalolov – a boxer who had not been beaten since 2017.
The Burton man came into the bout knowing he would be hampered by two cuts that were sustained from head clashes in his quarter-final win over Mourad Aliev, when the Frenchman was disqualified as a result.
The opening round was keenly contested, but the Uzbek was sharper to the punch and landed more blows to take it unanimously.
Clarke hit back in the second as he rocked Jalolov with a right hand to produce a standing eight count, but his opponent nevertheless responded to take it on a 4-1 split.
But it was obvious that Clarke’s cuts had reopened and that he was in danger of being preventing from completing the final.
And so it proved as, part way through the final round the referee halted proceedings, leaving Jalolov a clear winner via the scoring to that point.
“It’s not the fairytale I wanted but I’m proud of myself. The last six months I have made more sacrifices in boxing than in the previous 18 years,” said Clarke.
“Congratulations to Jalolov who is a very good boxer, but I’m proud of myself and what I have achieved. I’m a little bit gutted about not getting through to the final, but my picture will now be on the wall in Sheffield.
“It’s been an honour to captain the team, but I think they are 11 captains in there really – it’s a fantastic squad.”

A Super Sunday for GB boxers on day nine in Tokyo means that they now have guaranteed at least two Olympic silver and three bronze medals.
Pat McCormack will contest Tuesday’s Welterweight (Under 69kg) final after his Irish opponent, Aidan Walsh, was forced to pull out through injury.
The Birtley boxer will go for gold at approximately 7pm (11am UK time) and will take on either familiar foe Andrei Zamkovoi of the ROC or Cuban Roniel Iglesias.
He will be joined at the final stage by Firewalker’s Ben Whittaker, who secured a 4-1 semi-final victory at light heavyweight (Under 81kg) over the ROC’s Imam Khataev.
Knowing his opponent was a powerful puncher and dangerous on the inside, the West Midlander attempted to keep the Russian at distance.
And with a place in the final on the line, Whittaker strong jab and defensive skills worked to his advantage to help him secure both the final three minutes and the overall contest by a 4-1 scoreline.
“I’ve had so much social media saying ‘the Russian lad will knock you out,” said Whittaker. “Nobody was beating me today and we don’t stop here. I think I put on a masterclass and on to the next one.”
He will now take on either Loren Alfonso Dominguez of Azerbaijan or Arlen Lopez of Cuba on Wednesday at 3.30pm (7.30am UK time).
Team captain Frazer Clarke secured GB’s third win of the day to secure at least a bronze medal after French opponent Mourad Aliev was disqualified.
The Burton super heavyweight (Over 91kg) boxer went into the quarter-final bout looking to avenge his European Qualifying Tournament defeat to the same opponent.
His quest was not helped as he dropped the opening round of a physical bout by a 3-2 margin.
But controversy reigned towards the end of the second round when, after being warned previously, Aliev was disqualified for repeated use of the head, which left Clarke with two cuts.
While the decision left Aliev protesting, a delighted Clarke is looking forward to his semi-final and said: “I’m an Olympic medallist. These are little cuts. This is my job and what I do. I’m a tough man, a proud man. It will take more than a little cut to stop me.”
He will now next face Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan on Wednesday at 3pm (7am).
