Masamichi Yabuki vs. Kenshiro Teraji 2

Kyoto, Japan – 19 March 2022

Newly crowned WBC light flyweight champion Masamichi Yabuki (13-3, 12 KOs), 29, will face former champion Kenshiro Teraji (18-1, 10 KOs), 30, in Kyoto, Japan, next March 19.

On September 22 in Kyoto, Japan, Teraji was dethroned by a tenth-round TKO by Yabuki, failing in his ninth defense of the WBC light flyweight title and losing his undefeated record in professional boxing.

At a press conference, where both warriors promised victory, this match was confirmed.

“I am determined to enter the ring with more desire and with the intention of taking revenge against Yabuki for my honor. I’m going to get my belt back,” Teraji vowed.

And the champion commented: “The rematch is a great opportunity to show that I am the true champion. The day of the fight they will see a war and I will emerge with my arm raised”.

In Kyoto Japan, a mighty upset as, after four and a half years of reigning the light flyweight division, Kenshiro Teraji, was dethroned by his compatriot, Masamichi Yabuki, in a shocker thriller!

Yabuki took full advantage of his greater reach from the start of the fight, by effectively using his long jab, while Teraji struggled to fight on the inside, so the challenger won the first few rounds.

Yabuki appreciably gained in confidence after the scores were announced following the fourth round (WBC open scoring system) stating 40-36 on two cards, while the other judge had the fight 38-38.

Teraji, who’s distinguished by heart and hunger, went all out to claw it back in its second half presenting Yabuki in some predicaments.

Teraji looked strong and determined rallying in the eighth round, landing solid combinations and left hands that swelled Yabuki’s right eye.

After hearing the cards after the eighth round, the up to now undefeated champion upped his tempo, launching an onslaught on Yabuki, whose face was puffed up and swollen, despite leading on the scorecards.y

By necessity, Teraji sought the KO. However Yabuki intelligently parried Kenshiro’s charge and managed to land solid combinations late in round 10 that trapped the champion on the ropes.

Yabuki attacked and unloaded his entire repertoire to force the Referee Yuji Fukuchi, to stop the fight.

At the time of the fight’s conclusion, Yabuki was leading on all three cards.

The World Boxing Council congratulates its new world champion, Masamichi Yabuki and recognizes Kenshiro Teraji, as a great WBC monarch, inside and outside the ring, during his more than four years atop the division.

World Boxing Council light fly champion Kenshiro Teraji will make his ninth defense against # 1-ranked compatriot Masamichi Yabuki, tomorrow night at the Kyoto City Gymnasium in Kyoto, western Japan.

This will be the 29-year-old Teraji’s ninth defense of the title he won by defeating Mexican Ganigan López in May 2017.

Teraji has 18 wins, including 10 KOs. While Yabuki, who will get his first shot at a world title, has a 12-3 record including 11 KOs.

Both passed the weigh-in without a hitch. Teraji tipped the scale at 107.4 pounds, while Yabuki weighed 107.6 pounds.

World Boxing Council light fly champion Kenshiro Teraji (18-0, 10 KOs) was scheduled to make his ninth defense against # 1-ranked compatriot Masamichi Yabuki (12-3, 11 KOs) in Kyoto, Japan on september 10, but it was postponed as the champion tested positive for COVID-19.

Shinsei Promotions announced that the match will take place on September 22 at the Kyoto City Gymnasium in Kyoto, western Japan.

This will be the 29-year-old Teraji’s ninth defense of the title he won by defeating Mexican Ganigan López in May 2017.

Teraji, who is now fully recovered, has 18 wins, including 10 KOs. While Yabuki, who will get his first shot at a world title, has a 12-3 record including 11 KOs.

Kenshiro Teraji (18-0, 10 KOs), the WBC light-flyweight champion, was to make his ninth defense against compatriot Masamichi Yabuki (12-3, 11 KOs) on September 10 in Kyoto, Japan. Teraji has tested positive for COVID-19 so the date has been postponed. The champ is in quarantine at home, waiting for the all clear so training can resume.

The championship bout will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

The bout will be the 29-year-old Teraji’s ninth defense of the title he won from Ganigan Lopez of Mexico in May 2017. Teraji has 18 wins, including 10 KOs, while Yabuki, who will have his first crack at a world title, has a 12-3 win-loss record with 11 KOs.

Undefeated World Boxing Council light fly champion, Japanese Kenshiro Teraji, will defend his world crown against the tough Masamichi Yabuki on September 10 at the Kyoto City Gymnasium in Kyoto, Japan.

This will be 29-year-old Teraji’s ninth defence of the title he won by defeating Mexican Ganigan López in May 2017. “Ken” is keenly focused upon total  preparation, led by his father, Hisashi, for this important fight at the BMB gym.

He has built a record of 18 wins, including 10 knockouts, while Yabuki, who will get his first title shot, has a record of 12-3 and 11 knockouts.

The fight will be presented by Shinsei Promotions of Masato Yamashita and will be broadcast on local television.

Kyoto City Gymnasium in Kyoto, Western Japan – 10/9/21

Undefeated World Boxing Council light flyweight champion, Japanese Kenshiro Teraji, will defend his title against ranked Masamichi Yabuki of Midori Boxing Gym on September 10 at Kyoto City Gymnasium in Kyoto, Western Japan.

This was announced in a press conference led by Masato Yamashita of Shinsei Boxing Gym who will promote the fight said on July 5 in Osaka.
It will be the 29-year-old Teraji’s ninth defense of the title he won from Ganigan Lopez of Mexico in May 2017.

“Ken” said: “I`m glad that I will be able to defend my title in my home city of Kyoto for the first time, despite the lingering COVID-19. The upcoming fight will only serve as a way station for me. While Mr. Yabuki is strong, I will beat him by a wide margin. I think I can keep my distance and will aim at a knockout victory around mid fight.

He`s focused on boosting his basic physical fitness of him at BMB gym run by his father Hisashi.
28-year-old Yabuki generously and graciously stressed: “True, the champion Teraji has a good sense of distance, jabs and a strong lower body strength. But I’ve got a strong punch coupled with speed. If he comes to knock me out. My chance of winning a KO victory will prove so much more. I watched his fight with Hisada from the ringside. He did not look stronger than I had thought beforehand. The coming fight will probably become a battle of jabs.”

The fight promoter Yamashita said, “While the fight venue has a seating capacity of 5,000, I am thinking about accepting 2,500 spectators. The situation may change depending upon the situation surrounding the novel coronavirus pandemic.”

Teraji has 18 wins, including 10 KOs, while Yabuki, who will have his first crack at a world title, has a 12-3 win-loss record with 11 KOs.
