Yamileth Mercado concluded and closed her training camp on the Baja California border, helped by “Jackie Nava Team”, for by far the most important fight and greatest challenge of her career.
“Yeimi” (18-2-0, 5 KO’s), as the WBC super-bantamweight champion, will move up the division to challenge the formidable WBC featherweight champion, Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano (40-1-1, 32 KO’s), this Sunday 29 in Cleveland, Ohio, in a duel, generating intense Mexico-Puerto Rico boxing rivalry.
Mercado trained solidly for six weeks in Tijuana, where all the details of her physical and strength preparation were taken care of, Raúl Robles.
The technical part was under the supervision of Miguel Reyes and Mario Mendoza, who focused upon speed, punch frequency plus distance.
“I am very happy with the training camp we had in Tijuana, I am in excellent shape, very animated and very motivated to face this important fight and we are going to reach 100% in all aspects,” said Yamileth.
The WBC Super Bantamweight World Champion is aware of her magnitude of the challenge, but she is confident that she has the style, strength, and motivation to defeat the Puerto Rican boxer.
“Amanda is a great champion, very strong, but for that we have prepared ourselves. If you want to be the best, you must fight the best, and I came to this fight at a great moment and with extraordinary preparation, “she commented.
Mercado travels today to Cleveland, to fulfil her promotional commitments.
The boxing evening this Sunday will be led by the youtuber, and undefeated professional boxer, Jake Paul (3-0-0, 3 KO’s) who will face the former multiple Mixed Martial Arts- champion, Tyron Woodley, who will make his boxing debut professional.
