Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame postpones induction ceremony
The Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame has announced the postponement of its induction weekend of 2020 and 2021 until the summer or fall of 2022.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the consequent uncertainty resulting from it, obliged President and NVBHOF CEO Michelle Corrales-Lewis to take this decision.
Corrales-Lewis stated: “We waited as long as possible before making this difficult decision. Our Induction Weekend features numerous events that require our boxing fans to be close to the honorees. Hundreds of fans mingle with our new members, champions and celebrities where shaking hands, hugging, taking pictures, signing autographs and being up close are all part of the experience.
“We do not want to reduce the quality and excitement of the weekend for our members, and we certainly do not want to endanger anyone’s health due to the nature of our event.
“Despite the fact that Las Vegas has reopened, the lack of time to obtain adequate sponsorship and our inability to organize fundraising events has caused this decision.”
The Induced Class of 2020 will be augmented with additional names comprising the Class of 2021, both of which will be held at the largest event in NVBHOF history next year.
The NVBHOF will closely monitor federal, state, and local guidelines in the coming months and then announce details.
