Guinahon defeats Kinaadman in Slugfest, Pagaling beats Gandionco
Two very promising new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) champions were crowned on Sunday afternoon, August 28, in Lagonglong, Philippines.
Eldin “Goldenboy” Guinahon had his 100 percent knockout-streak broken, and got a stern test from co-challenger Mike Kinaadman before winning a unanimous decision and the vacant UBO International Flyweight title.
In an excellent fast-paced fight, both men appeared to be going for the knockout, with toe-to-toe exchanges and throwing power-shots galore.
But Guinahon (22) was just a little bit sharper, and floored Kinaadman in round four with a well-placed left hook to the body. Kinaadman beat the count of referee Delbert Pelegrino, and made it through the onslaught that followed.
While Kinaadman continued to be very dangerous and game, Guinahon was more accurate and consistent from the fifth round onwards, and out-landed his aggressive foe in most rounds.
Despite hardly a lull in the action from start to finish, both men found the energy to slug it out the last ten seconds of the fight, emptying the tank, but after ten rounds of thrilling action it was clear that Guinahon deserved the victory.
Judges Roel Densig and Fatima Buat scored the fight 97-92 and 98-91, while scoring referee Pelegrino also had it 98-91.
Guinahon took his pro record to 8-0 (7), while Kinaadman drops to a very misleading 7-17-2 (5) after a performance he can be proud of.
In the co-main event, James “Dynamite” Pagaling won the vacant UBO International Super Bantamweight title, scoring a third round technical knockout when opponent Macrea Gandionco retired on his stool after round two.
It was quite anticlimactic, as Gandionco had made a good account of himself during the first two stanzas, giving almost as good as he got and even landing some solid shots on Pagaling.
