Former heavyweight boxer Mitchell Rose has sadly passed at the age of 51.

Known as the “cigarette man”, he turned professional on 17/5/91, last fighting on 15/9/06 with a final record of 2-11-1, 2 KOs. He was best known for inflicting the first defeat to unbeaten Eric Esch, better known as “Butterbean”.

He came back to public attention after a street fight with Mike Tyson outside a nightclub in 2002. He recently wrote a book called ‘Mike Tyson Tried To Kill My Daddy’ where he talks about Tyson, his upset win over Butterbean, and the politics of boxing.
