Tasha Jonas: I Believe I Have the Power to Knock Out Katie Taylor
Katie Taylor vs. Natasha Jonas 1/5/21
Tasha Jonas is confident that she has the power to knock Katie Taylor out when they meet in this weekend’s huge undisputed lightweight title fight.
Jonas (9-1-1, 7 KOs) faces Taylor (17-0, 6 KOs) at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday, live in the UK and Ireland on Sky Sports Box Office, and worldwide on DAZN.
The two women went head to head at their final press conference on Thursday, and Jonas feels that she is more than capable of winning the fight inside the distance.
Jonas said: “Every time I’m asked to step up I do, and I perform. I’ve been the underdogs for years, and the more you tell me I can’t do it the more I know that I can. I’m better now than I was for the Harper fight, and I know I have to be like that to win.
“In boxing, one punch changes everything. I do believe I have power. I don’t like making predictions or disrespect anybody, but I do believe I have the power to stop her.
“After the traumatic experience of round eight of the Harper fight, that was a learning curve. If I get the opportunity again, it will be the end of the fight.”
Taylor said: “We don’t take easy fights. I’m in this sport to fight the best. We train for every fight as if it’s the hardest to date. My mindset and mentality doesn’t change from fight to fight. I’m looking forward to a great fight on Saturday.
“We have both developed and matured into great professional fighters. This will be a completely different fight to what it was in the London Olympics. I’m improving and getting better each time, and my last few performances have shown that as well.”
