Tempers flare at the Leigh Wood vs. Michael Conlan press conference
Leigh Wood vs. Michael Conlan
Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England – 12 March 2022
There were heated words exchanged as Leigh Wood and Michael Conlan went head to head on the first day of their press tour ahead of their WBA featherweight title fight.
Wood (25-2, 15 KOs) defends his title against Conlan (16-0, 8 KOs) at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on March 12, live on DAZN.
The two men spoke in front of the media in Nottingham on Wednesday, and there was a lot of back and forth between each of them.
Wood said: “I’m extremely focused. I was at the Nottingham Arena as a young boy watching Froch do it. I knew eventually my time would come, and I’m not letting this slip. I’m one fight away from a fight at the City Ground and that is my dream.
“I’m here to do a job. I’m focused on Conlan and I know what I need to do to win. I respect him as a fighter and I need to make sure I do everything to win. I’ll keep beating everyone who is put in front of me. I’m going to knock him out.”
Conlan said: “I’ve had an underdog mentality since I was a baby. Every fight I back myself, and I have answers for what anybody does.
“I wished him good luck on the week of the fight and I wanted him to win. He seems like a nice guy. I don’t know him personally but I have respect for him, but it will be And The New in Nottingham.”
