Thabiso Mchunu vs. Evgeny Tishchenko in a Silver Plus Eliminatory Bout
South African Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu (22-5-0, 13 Ko`s), Silver cruiser Champion of the World Boxing Council, will defend his title against Russian Evgeny Tishchenko, on March 27 at the RCC Boxing Academy in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
In addition to Thabiso’s Silver title at stake, the match will be eliminatory for the right to challenge champion Ilunga Makabu.
Mchunu, who won the WBC Silver title by defeating Denis Lebedev of Russia and is ranked number 1 on the WBC rankings, has fought quality rivals Eddie Chambers, Olanrewaju Duradola, Ilunga Makabu, Oleksandr Usyk and Thomas Oosthuizen.
Tishchenko, who’s undefeated as a professional in 8 fights, has extensive experience as an amateur boxer. He won gold medals at the 2016 Olympics, the 2015 World Championships, and the 2015 and 2017 European Championships. In addition to being a boxer, he has a degree in physical education and works as a policeman in St. Petersburg.
