Thaw War! Artur Beterbiev vs. Adam Denies in Moscow March 20th
Undefeated World Boxing Council light heavyweight champion Russian Artur Beterbiev will defend his title against German Adam Deines on Saturday March 20 at the Megasport Arena, Moscow, Russia.
Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KO) and Deines have been scheduled to fight twice before. The proposed date of October 23 was dropped after Beterbiev sustained a rib injury during training, and the date of January 30 was postponed after Beterbiev tested positive for COVID-19.
Adam Deines (19-1-1, 10 KOs), who was born in Russia but became a German national, will get his first world title shot.
The 29-year-old Deines’ only loss came to China’s Meng Fanlong, by a 10-round decision, in June 2019 in Macau.
“At last, Artur Beterbiev will defend his world titles as he looks to start his 2021 campaign in a devastating way,” said Top Rank President Bob Arum. “We have big plans for Artur, but he must first win in Moscow.”
Beterbiev commented: “I’m excited to finally have a date for the fight. Now that COVID-19 and the injury are behind me, I am able to prepare well and put on a great show for the boxing fans.”
