The WBC Presents Boxing Diplomas in Argentine Prisons
This week the first diplomas were presented for inmates who have completed the “Initiation Course to Boxing” that the WBC gave, in on-line format, in prisons in Argentina.
The initiative came from the “Boxeo sin Cadenas” program, which has been working for more than 8 years in different prisons.
The course was part of a WBC proposal to deal with the COVID 19 pandemic in a context of confinement. It was made up of theory and practical classes, training methods, motivational videos, and counted with the collaboration and greeting of champions as Panamanian Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Duran, Mexican Humberto “Chiquita” González, Argentine fighters Alberto Palmetta , Marcelo Dominguez, Alberto Melián, Martin Coggi, Adrian Verón, Lucía Perez and Sebastian Heiland, plus many trainers of this sport.
The course was remotely done in the units of the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service of Sierra Chica, Lomas de Zamora, González Catán and La Plata; and in Salta, of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
In the coming weeks, those responsible for the program plan will also bring it to the population of other units in Argentina. The classes are weekly in format and have specific content about the sport and its values.
