Vitor Belfort stops Evander Holyfield in the 1st round & Hollywood results
Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida, USA 11/9/21
Vitor Belfort (2-0, 2 KOs) W TKO 1 Evander Holyfield (44-11-2, 29 KOs)
Heavyweight
8x 2 Minutes
Fight Notes: Holyfield was first down via a swing that missed with Holyfield spinning 180 degrees into the ropes. Holyfield was then down moments later via an uppercut that was a legitimate knockdown. The follow-up blows brought on the referees stoppage as each blow, though not looking that hard, seemed to effect the 58 year-old.
Holyfield complained about the stoppage but the referee was correct with the decision. Time of the stoppage was 1:49.
Holyfield looked slow, off-balance, totally disorganised, and, well….just old. 58 and on one weeks notice…..how did this get sanctioned? I find it desperate that the venue was changed as the original commission that would of overseen it, the California State Athletic Commission, refused to licence the bout. Change venue to Florida, less strict, it gets the green light.
This has to stop before some elderly former boxer gets hurt, and it is inevitable. There are plenty of ex-boxers ready to discard their free bus pass to lace the gloves up one more time for a huge payday on a Triller fight card.
