Dillian Whyte (27-2, 18 KO’s) is going straight in for revenge against Alexander Povetkin (36-2-1, 25 KO’s) with the date set for Saturday 21st November.
Alexander Povetkin
“I’ve rested well, spent time with my family,” Povetkin said, “and now that the date of the rematch is known, I will soon return to my training camp and prepare as thoroughly as I did for the first fight. As I said before the first fight, and after it, too, Dillian Whyte is a good, strong boxer. I will be ready to enter the ring on November 21. I hope it will be another beautiful fight for the fans.
‘I’m all in, I knocked you out once, I will do it again’.”
Dillian Whyte
“I will be a lot more focused and sharper in the rematch. I’m coming to win and knock him out. I’m coming to even the score and the only way to do that is by knocking him out.”
“I’m over the moon to have the rematch. As soon as I got out of the ring, I was looking for confirmation that the fight would be on. I can’t wait to get back in the ring and get back what is rightfully mine. I’m looking to do what I said I would the first time, and that’s beat Alexander Povetkin.
“There won’t be any major adjustments, but I just need to be more switched on and not get distracted,” Whyte added. “He was able to use his experience against me. I will be a lot more focused and sharper in the rematch. I’m coming to win and knock him out. I’m coming to even the score, and the only way to do that is by knocking him out.”
Eddie Hearn
“Those are tow places we are looking at subject to fans returning,” Hearn said. “With or without fans that takes place on November 21.
“If he wants to fight for a world title, absolutely everything is on the line in this fight,” Hearn said. “Everything is on the line for his career on November 21.
“It was a big shock, especially as he was seen to be controlling the fight and it was a brutal, brutal knockout that was seen around the world. From the moment he found his way back to the changing room to the moment he saw me, all he could talk about was the rematch.
“He has had three or four weeks to rest up, it is nine weeks this Saturday. So he won’t be starting full camp for another week or so, but he is so hungry to win. Many people think he is foolish taking the rematch so early, but he believes he should have won that fight, he wants the chance to avenge that fight and he wants the chance to do it quickly.”
The rematch will be live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK.
