Yamileth Mercado Tentative Date For February 13th After Injury
Fully recovered from the double fractured nose injury she suffered in her previous fight, which was against Irasema Rayas in September last year, WBC super bantamweight world champion Yamileth Mercado is ready to make the first defense of her crown.
With a tentative date for February 13, Yamileth is ready to start the year with a defense of her crown after a 2020 that frustrated plans not only because of the pandemic but also because of the injury, during her non title fight against Irasema Rayas in Monterrey. It happened, following an accidental clash of heads in the second. And faced with a stern test of character, “Yeimi” ignored increasing pain, fought back with gusto and TKO`d her opponent in the fourth round.
Training alongside WBC super featherweight Miguel Berchelt, who will also climb the ring in February, Yamileth says whoever her rival will be she will keep her title. One possible opponent might even be Zulina “Loba” Munoz.
With a winning mentality, Yamileth hopes that 2021 will be a year in which she can make her dreams come true, among them, finishing her career as a Bachelor of Nursing, as well as make successful defenses of her Green and Gold Belt.
