Raúl “Jíbaro” Pérez, from Mexico, one of the tallest bantamweights in boxing history, defeated his compatriot, Diego Avila by UD in 12 rounds. It was a magnificent bout that took place at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, California. The Athletic Commission of California had appointed Referee John Thomas to be the third man in the ring. The Judges were Davey Pearl, Raul Caiz and Joan Ortega.
