Russian Pavel Silyagin Wins WBC Silver Middleweight Title
Russian Pavel Silyagin won the WBC Silver middleweight title defeating Uzbek Azizbek Abdugofurov by unanimous decision in an entertaining bout on Saturday in the co-feature of the Top Rank Boxing card headlined by Artur Beterbiev vs. Deines at Megasport Arena in Moscow.
Lanky Silyagin ably used his longer reach and deftly switched between right-handed and southpaw stances, delivering punches from all angles against a slower Abdugofurov.
It was a tough fight and each bloodied the other`s nose. But it was Pavel who effectively applied the more intelligently sustained pressure.
The judges had it 120-108, 119-109 and 119-109 for the dominant Silyagin (7-0, 4 KOs), 27, of Russia, who is known as “The Stylish Assassin.”
