Undefeated Ecuadorian-American Arnold Gonzalez, 7-0 (3), is set for his first professional championship fight, challenging for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) South America Welterweight title on November 20.

Born and raised in New York by Ecuadorian parents, twenty-six year old Gonzalez will face seasoned Colombian Jose Luis Prieto, 28-10 (18), at the Coliseo Tohalli in Manta, Ecuador.

The fight will be promoted by Capital Box, televised live nationally by Ecuador TV, and streamed world-wide on Facebook.

Gonzalez turned professional in February of 2019, and had his first four bouts in the United States, three of them on undercards of major fights staged by Premier Boxing Champions at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Fighting for the fourth straight time in Ecuador, he will be the main attraction on November 20, facing an opponent with far more experience in Prieto, a former WBC regional titlist.

Despite mixed results in recent years, Prieto (36) showed last April that he is still a tricky foe for younger opponents when he defeated ex Colombian national champion Yuri Mendez over eight rounds.

This is a genuine crossroads fight between up-and-comer and veteran. For Gonzalez it is a chance to win his first title and build on a growing fan-base in his second home-country. For Prieto it is an opportunity to become a champion again, and fully revive his career.
