Practice makes perfect for Brandon Jones as he looks to obtain his fourth pro win.

His quartet will be complete when BCB Promotions return to the Eastside Rooms, on Woodcock Street in Birmingham, with fight night set for Friday April 29.

It’s three months on from when Jones last featured, at the same venue, where he outpointed the evergreen Elvis Dube and moved to 3-0.

Jones won every round to record a 40-36 points whitewash, at the end of four rounds, against the vastly-experienced Dube, who was competing in his 106th pro fight.

It was an identical verdict when he beat Antony Woolery in December, again taking place in his home city of Birmingham, at the Holiday Inn Queensway.

The 22-year-old light heavyweight, from Chelmsley Wood, debuted in October of last year, halting Ryan Bithell by third round TKO, at the H Suite in Edgbaston.

His pro exploits are being led by John Costello, his first-ever coach when he took up boxing, at the age of eight, which led to a successful amateur career.

Jones amassed 38 amateur bouts, 30 of them victories, and claimed two national titles, in the 2014 England Junior Championships and the NABC competition of 2016.

He said: “After every pro fight that I’ve had, I’ve gone straight back into camp and I’ve been out every few months, so I’m where I should be.

“On the night of the last one, I came out of the ring thinking I didn’t do that well. When I watched it back, I thought it was my best performance (as a pro).

“I picked him off with the jab and didn’t get caught with much, which is just as well, because he has a big right hand. He was looking to catch me.

“I felt relaxed, I timed my shots well and it was a much better display than my previous fight, where I was a bit hesitant, although the result was the same.

“It was a good feeling, much like my debut when I got the stoppage. I caught him with a straight right, put the lad down and the referee jumped in.

“I’d love another stoppage, but I’m not the sort who goes out looking for it. I didn’t on my debut and I won’t do it now. I’m just going to get in there and box.

“Since I moved to John (Costello, coach), I’ve come on loads. I’m a different fighter, to what I was, and I’m still learning my craft.

“I’m hoping to be 6-0 or 7-0, by the end of the year, and it would be great if I could get a title shot in 2023. I’m in the game to do as much as I can.”
