EBU European Cruiser champion, Englishman Tommy McCarthy, will face British Empire (Commonwealth) champion, Chris Billam-Smith, this Saturday, July 31, at the “Matchroom Fight Camp” in Brentwood, Essex, United Kingdom.

In October last year, McCarthy won the EBU title by defeating Bilal Laggoune by majority decision, successfully defended it against Alexandru Jur, who he knocked out in six rounds, and is now preparing for this fight against Billam-Smith, in search of a greater international projection.

McCarthy holds a record of 18-2 with 9 knockouts. His last defeat was in March 2019, and since then he has notched up a streak of five victories.

Chris Billam-Smith’s, he won the Commonwealth title in November 2019, knocking out Craig Glover in five rounds. He is also on a three-game fight streak to improve his record to 12-1 with 10 knockouts.

The promoters are Matchroom Boxing, and it`ll be broadcast on DAZN.
